4 Spots Left In Ultimate Draft League

We just took our 26th signup for the NFBC Ultimate Draft League, leaving us with four open spots before we fill up our second league. The response has surprised even me this year as we also have 15 teams signed up for the Ultimate Auction League, but we'll gladly host these on Sunday, March 19th and take care of these guys in a special way.

Anyway, if you are interested in one of these final spots, let me know as I doubt we'll try for a third league. Running these three leagues between four cities will be enough for our staff.

Also, once we have all 30 owners for the Ultimate Draft Leagues, we'll finalize the way we're going to do the draft order. Right now this league is set up using the Kentucky Derby Style draft preference, just like the main event. That means that Tom and I will pick these leagues and their draft orders randomly and then take your draft preferences that you've set up online to determine the final draft order. However, if there are 15 owners who want to try the Blind Draft Bidding System using your FAAB dollars to determine the draft order, I would create one league for BBDS and one league for KDS. I know there is a mix of owners that have a preference for each and I'll try to oblige, but ONLY if there are enough owners who want to do one or the other.

Stay in touch everyone as this could be some fun.

Greg: Will the Auction require a phone hook up similiar to last year, or will you have everybody in one room as you were hoping to achieve last season?

Hope you can GET Brady Tinker a round of golf at the new WYNN course as a bribe to be the Auctioneer again. ;)

I think that's manageable with Brady in Las Vegas as our Ultimate League auctioneer. Now if we could convince those two owners in New York to come to Las Vegas......

Okay, we now have three spots left for the Ultimate Draft League as Stephen Jupinka of Waldwick, New Jersey grabbed one of the last spots. Steve is one of only four owners to win back-to-back NFBC league titles in the main event and he's already signed up for the 2006 main event and a satellite league. We're glad we could add to your baseball fun this year, Steve, so welcome aboard once again.

27 and counting for the NFBC Ultimate Draft League.

We now have two spots available for the NFBC Ultimate Draft League as we just added one more team for that Sunday, March 19th event. Barry Fishman and Mark Yagan of Overland Park, Kansas have agreed to join us in Chicago for the Ultimate Draft League, giving us 28 owners for that one and 15 for the Ultimate Auction League. Wow, what a year. Let's fill this one up and start planning for a historic season in the NFBC.

Thanks guys. Oh, and don't worry about clicking Send four times on this signup. I'd love to have the $20,000 you registered for, but one $5,000 entry is just fine! :D

Just one spot left in the Ultimate Draft League as Glenn Schroter and James Hogan are teaming up for one spot in New York. Glenn has been in the Ultimate League for baseball and football the last year and just couldn't resist. Glad to have you back, King of Queens!!

One spot left. Wow, what a year.

KING , you always cut it close.Coming out of the football ultimate i thought you had the best team.Injuries to j jones and carnel williams really hurt. What happen to micheal clayton, he just did nothing. I was wrong on mike anderson , he was worth that 2nd round pick.

Well anyway , good luck in the ultimate baesball which takes much more skill.
Last year was a disaster in baseball. Truth be told, I was overmatched trying to run three NFBC leagues myself. Now with a partner--one whom I have known for 15+ years and is definitely on the same page as I am--to help me out, I feel much better about 2006.

Should be a fun weekend!

The funny thing about the league was that I was THRILLED with my wide receivers coming out of the draft (Mi.Clayton, Lelie, Branch, A.Bryant, Colbert). Tough to rebound from crap like that.

You had a great run in the end there, and a nice payout to boot.

Well, at least I can say "I told you so" about Mike Anderson :D

Hope to give you a little payback if we wind up in the same Ultimate draft league...

Okay, a quick switch of leagues here to report. Scott Keikoan of Las Vegas had to bow out of the Ultimate Auction League and Aaron Seefeldt was the first owner on standby for that one. Aaron will stay through the weekend in Las Vegas and now compete in the Ultimate Auction League, giving us 13 owners in Las Vegas and two in New York. Brady will make this work smoothly.

That leaves us with 28 owners for the Ultimate Draft League between the four cities. We have TWO open spots left. Thanks everyone.

We're back to 29 owners for the Ultimate Draft League as Artie Rastelli, our 2004 NFBC grand champion, and his father, Artie Rastelli Sr., has joined the Ultimate League competition. We now have one full league for the Ultimate Auction League and 29 out of 30 spots filled for the Ultimate Draft League.

Anyone want that last spot? ;)

Artie was in my league the first year of the NFBC -- I guess that means that I was at least partially responsible for his winning the whole enchildada.

Still a 1-in-2 chance that we're in different leagues!

Hey Eddie, right now are Ultimate Draft locations break down as follows:

Las Vegas: 16

New York: 9

Chicago: 3

Tampa: 1

So we will be having a phone connection of some kind for one of the leagues that will combine New York, Chicago, Tampa and Vegas (we should have a full league drafting separately in Vegas). But a phone hookup for a draft is a piece of cake so we have no worries there.
I will poll the 30 owners once we get this filled up and see what response we have for BBDS, KDS and random. It's possible that we could do one BBDS and one KDS, but it makes no sense to have one owner in Chicago doing BBDS and two owners doing KDS. I don't plan on doing that and even in New York I don't have a great desire to have one phone hookup for the Ultimate Auction League, and two for the Ultimate Draft Leagues. It just doesn't make sense.

Every team in these leagues will be tough and it makes sense to have a full 15-team league in Las Vegas and one teleconference league. We'll determine all of that once we've finalized the 30 owners in this league.

Feel free to start a thread again to see what kind of response there is to BBDS or KDS. An informal listing of what owners want to do could separate the leagues pretty easily.

I do have two owners interested in this final Ultimate Draft League spot, so I think we're inching closer to three full Ultimate Leagues. The breakdown could be as follows:

Ultimate Auction League:

13 owners in Las Vegas

2 in New York

(teleconference hookup between the two cities)

Ultimate Draft League:

15 Las Vegas owners comprise one league

11 New York owners (teleconference draft)

3 Chicago owners (teleconference draft)

1 Tampa owner (teleconference draft)

Rather than mix the 30 owners into two teleconference leagues, this would make the most sense. It also means that KDS would likely be used, unless there is a consensus in the leagues. We'll finalize all of this once we have the two Ultimate Draft Leagues filled. But as of now, this is the way things are leaning.
