Round 1 Que Now Available For NFBC Slow Drafts

Okay, we just unveiled the Round 1 Que feature for NFBC Slow Drafts. Hopefully this will help give everyone the confidence to put their top players in their que, hit the Round 1 Que feature and know that the system will only pick one player from that que and then go back to your 8 hour time frame for your next pick. We believe this will speed up Slow Drafts and keep these moving along at a faster pace.

If you're already in a Slow Draft, you may need to log out of that league link/draft room and log back in to see it. Give it a little time if you're already in the draft room and it should appear soon. It actually takes a few minutes for the new version to appear over the old version. What you will see are:

** 2 Auto-Pick boxes under your Que.

** If you want to make only 1 auto pick and then be removed from auto pick, you should check the “1 Round Auto” box. That will allow the system to automatically pick the top player from your que when it's your turn to pick and then go off auto-pick for your next pick. It will just put you back on the clock for 8 hours should it come back to you after your auto-pick. The other auto-pick box works exactly the same as before.

** We also just updated and fixed the bugs involving player search. We believe we have corrected the bug that was featuring an incorrect player. You should not see that issue again.

Let us know what you think of this added feature and once everyone feels confident using the Que again, I think we will have a system that will make Slow Drafts even more enjoyable than they are now. And if you have any issues, contact me or Tom and we'll jump into the draft room to help. Hit the Help button and email each of us if you need help. Thanks.

Greg I sent this to my leaguemates but shouldn't you send it to everyone currently in a league or signed up for an upcoming league?

I had a problem with the feature (not being there) I rebooted and still nothing. I was using Google Chrome and then tried Firefox and it worked without a hitch. Just an FYI if someone else has an issue.

Does this feature work in the HTML version of the draft room? I can't get it to appear there.

Jeff, sorry but right now this is only a feature in the Flash applet. I'll let you know if anything changes for HTML.

All NFBC owners should get an update on the new Round 1 Que feature in today's newsletter. Tom is sending that out shortly.

I'm sure it will take a bit for folks to use it frequently, but I really see where this feature can help us move these Slow Drafts along, especially late at night. Since we have people drafting in one league from all regions of the country, it's tough to always be there when your pick is up. But with this new feature that allows you to put players in your Que and only have it pick those players for one round, it should allow folks to go to sleep if they are 3 or 4 picks away and know that they got the player they wanted and still didn't hold up the draft. You can definitely do this during the day, but I see this feature helping the most at night and moving drafts along that way.

Try it out. It's not going to make a pick from the player default list if you have enough players in your Que. And it won't pick twice for you from your Que because after your first pick it will revert back out of auto-pick. When you wake up and if you're up to pick, you'll still have 8 hours for that second pick. And again, you can load your Que up and do another Round that way.

I think as people gain more confidence in this feature, it will get used more and speed up drafts. Try it and let us know how it works. We think it is a step in the right direction as we become the leader in pay Slow Draft Leagues for baseball and football.

Greg,

Please keep in mind that Flash doesn't work on iPhones or iPads. I'm sure I'm not alone, but I access the draft board exclusively through my phone or ipad during the day.

And also, Flash itself is a dying technology ;-)

Thanks,
Jeff

Yes, we'll look into how much programming time it will take to add this to HTML too. I can't guarantee it will get done now on HTML, but I hear ya. Again, hopefully it's speeding up the drafts at night where folks can set their Que, click on the Round 1 Que button and keep things moving overnite. But we understand that if this would help with mid-day picks on iPhones or iPads then we'll look into this. Thanks for the feedback.
