How's it going gentlemen?
Gotta love my typo when creating the username (damn iPad)
Anyways if any of you remember, last year I came on and told you I was creating a local qualifier with my good friends who are big fans. We did, and it went well. My neighbor won the qualifier and will be representing our group in the league. He drafts and manages the team and takes 50% of any winnings. The rest of the league splits the other 50% (depending on where you finished decides your cut).
Our plan being a bunch of de-generate gamblers was to go rock out Atlantic city and have some fun for the weekend. About a month ago we got on and saw there was no more Atlantic city...we were disappointed. So what did we do? We kept our plans for Atlantic city and are going to draft online from down there Lol. Thank you for adding the online option...
Before I register I must ask though what the $75 venue fee is for online? Not criticizing just wondering...I am sure this was already addressed at one, I apologize for a re post of the same question.
Matt

Hello Matt, Sound like Fun for you and your Buddies doing the draft from A.C. , But make sure you check before hand that you can get on the draft site from where every you are planning to draft from. I had a major problem a few years ago trying to draft from my hotel room in one of the major casino. they block the cookies from the site because they consider fantasy baseball a gambling site and claim it was illegal to allow from their hotel because of their gambling licenses. I had to do the whole draft on my cell phone, not something you want to try in the main event. Hope this helps Good luck Roy

Matt,
Greg addressed this awhile back. Basically he wants to preserve and grow the live draft at a table in the various cities. The 75 dollar events fee is charged to you because it helps pay for all the live events put on over all the cities. While you won't get to enjoy the festivities, you could always switch and join us, but basically that's why he did it, to help fray the costs of the live events, rather than charge the live event folks like 100 bucks and the online folks $0 (Because more people would of course do the online league), this way helps keep it fair in a way where it helps grow the live draft part of the NFBC.

Great idea Matt and congrats to the guy who won the league. Sorry we didn't return to Atlantic City, but finding the ideal venue for these regional drafts isn't always easy. The costs of hosting 2 drafts in Atlantic City just wasn't conducive this year and we felt a more centralized East Coast location would work better. We're learning new things each year about you East Coasters!!
As Dusty said, our goal is to continue the live events and so discounting the Events Fees for Online drafters would incentize all of you to stay at home and draft Online. In today's day and age, we have to make the Online an option for our Main Events because not everyone can come to the live events and the technology is good enough to run these big money leagues online. But we still want to grow the live events and there are costs involved in doing that and so everyone has to have the same entry fee and the investment in that or the live events go away. As they are now, the East Coast event is going to cost us and while I'm happy for you guys it doesn't help us after expecting more drafters in Mahwah.
Sorry for the added expenses. We'll send two rounds of drinks your way while you're drafting from Mahwah if that helps!!

Good luck and welcome aboard. And if you're planning on doing this First Weekend, you better hurry on that signup because we need a full 15 for the next league and then we're likely closing that weekend out. Thanks.

No apologies needed. Very good answer, makes sense.
Sounds like we have a plan to address the hotel thing. I am glad I mentioned it. We are just gona draft the following weekend from home. Gives us more casino time anyways. No way we are canceling this fun of trip

.
Good luck everyone I am signing us up right now...

Pretty cool that you can change your display name. I was able to sign us up but use the drafter/managers name as the display name.
How does this work for leagues filling up? If we don't fill a league what happens and how will we know when the league does fill.
Sorry for then rook questions, hope we registered early enough....

Is this Matt? I'm updating our Signup Page now. Welcome aboard and I'll call you with all of your answers soon. I think your group made the right call there, so plan that draft strategy at the casino table and then be ready for a fun, fun online draft the next weekend. Good luck and I love the concept of how you did this for your league members.
