NFBC Slow Draft Signup Deadline: Tuesday, March 6th

Well let's all admit it: WE'VE CREATED A NEW BEAST IN THE NFBC!!
NEVER in my wildest dreams did I expect the Slow Drafts to become the phenomenon that they've become. We estimated 20 full leagues this year and we are now approaching 60 full leagues. That includes 40+ $150 Slow Draft Leagues, 3 $150 Fast/Slow Draft Leagues, a $150 email league that started in October, more than a dozen $375 Slow Draft Leagues and 1 $1,000 Slow Draft League. It's just been an amazing year for this format.
Ron Shandler likes to call these leagues Draft 'N Hold leagues and I guess that's really what they are. I also think they are the new phenomenon going forward because some folks are so busy these days that Sunday night FAAB can be too much like work. They like the idea of building a complete team, enjoying the weeks of drafting and then setting that starting lineup each week and watching the standings. And now with a grand prize that has really built up into something special, it's going to be even more fun to watch the overall prize pool.
These Slow Drafts actually started as off-season preps for our die-hard NFBC members, but they soon turned into one of our best recruiting contests. The latest Slow Draft Leagues that filled have had more than half of the league with first-time members, people who have NEVER played in any other type of NFBC contest. We have more than 200 new NFBC members competing in the Slow Drafts this season, an amazing total of new participants. Our hope is that they enjoy this format so much that they move into the live drafts soon, but either way, it's great to have so many new members participating in our online event.
That being said, all good things must come to an end and with Slow Draft Leagues taking 3 weeks to complete in some cases, we have to set a signup deadline and move onto the live drafts. We have decided to set that deadline for Tuesday, March 6th. We'll fill up $150 and $375 Slow Draft Leagues through Tuesday night and the latest we'll start a new Slow Draft League is Wednesday, March 7th. We ask everyone who is jumping into these final Slow Draft Leagues to realize that we have to fill these by April 3rd, so please be vigilant and ready to draft. Every Slow Draft League must be finished by Opening Day, so let's keep these moving. Everyone gets to watch the Japan Games and set their starting lineups after those, so no worries there, but let's keep these moving and complete them before our live drafts on the Second Weekend if at all possible. Thanks all.
I'll create a separate thread to talk about the overall prize pool, but obviously that's increasing three-fold and more as well. You folks made that happen and now more people will benefit from that. Great job all.
Okay, enjoy the rest of the Slow Draft season. But for those of you who love the feel of a live draft in one night, the satellites and Online Championships are here now. Jump on in and enjoy these as well. Thanks all and best of luck in all of your leagues this season.
