Slow Draft League Grand Prize Now Grows To $10,000

I'm happy to report that the NFBC will be awarding a $10,000 grand prize to the overall champion in the NFBC Slow Draft DC Championship. That is up from our previously announced $3,500 grand prize!! The incredible demand for this format has allowed us to triple the number of expected teams in this format and therefore more than triple the overall prize pool.
I can't finalize the exact overall prize structure until we know the final total of leagues, but we can definitely announce the $10,000 grand prize. That one is locked in. I also know that we will pay at least the Top 10 teams overall and likely the Top 15 overall teams. 2nd through 5th overall will also increase, with 2nd place now at $3,000. Let's start with this payout plan and see if we can add to it this last week:
NFBC Slow Draft DC Championship
Revised Overall Prize Pool
1st Place = $10,000
2nd Place = $3,000
3rd Place = $2,000
4th Place = $1,000
5th Place = $500
6th Place = $250
7th Place = $250
8th Place = $250
9th Place = $250
10th Place = $250
TBA (11th-15th)
How does that look for starters?
The Slow Draft Leagues are primarily league based, with most of the money distributed there. We take $25 from each team entry no matter what the total entry fee of the league and add that to the overall prize pool and pay 80 percent of that total. So all teams in the $150, $375 and $1,000 Slow Draft Leagues are competing for this same overall prize pool (each team has contributed the same amount to the overall prizes), which now numbers close to 900 total teams. Therefore with each additional $150 Slow Draft League an additional $300 goes to the overall prize pool. If we add 5-7 more in this last week, you can see where we can add to the overall prize pool above and pay out even more overall winners. Next year I think we will start out with the larger guarantee because this format is HERE TO STAY!!
Thanks all and best of luck. It's great to get the grand prize to $10,000 and I think this is a level we'll be able to achieve for all years going forward. Thanks for helping us build another great new contest.
