NFBC NCAA Viewing Party IS ON For Las Vegas

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Fri Mar 02, 2012 10:49 am

Okay, I finally got a price quote and secured space for a Saturday Night NCAA Viewing Party at the Bellagio Las Vegas. It took a bit to get all of that done, but I think we can do this now. I don't need an official signup list now, but if you think this is something you'd like to do as a group let me know and we'll make this happen. I still need to get back with the Bellagio on the details, but the good news is that we have space to make this happen and we can definitely get this done.

Here's some of the details:

The NFBC Main Event on Saturday, March 31st will again be in the same rooms we had last year when we split 3 leagues in the Da Vinci Rooms and 3 leagues across the hall. In the middle will be the foyer, where we'll have lunch ready for everyone after the drafts. The drafts start at 10 am and ends about 2:30 pm. We have a Super League and 1-2 NFBC XII leagues set for 4-5 pm PT and we'll likely host them again in the Da Vinci. This should be a fun, fun day.

I believe the first Final Four game starts at 3:00 PT or around there. We can get a 12 foot screen for the game and rent out the Tower Ballroom right next door if we get 50+ people to attend. There is a cost obviously for the rental of the big screen, projector, space, etc., but we'll make that inclusive with everything we're offering. We can watch both games there and have a buffet meal in between the first and second games at around 6:00 or so. We will have to figure out how we'll do the drinks, maybe some drink tickets and then cash bar after that or something to that effect. Not everyone drinks the same amount...thankfully!!

I need to still figure out all of that but I think we can do the room, TV, food and some drink for $75-$100 per person and keep that room for both games. We could bring in the draft boards to look over, watch the games, send couriers down to the sportsbook to make our bets and even get married in the Wedding Chapel just down the way if needed!! :D We can do it all and really have a great, great night of camaraderie that's impossible to duplicate. And where else are you going to find a great meal, drinks and the game with like-minded folks like us?

If any of this is appealing to you, put your name down here and I'll make a list. Just to be safe, I'm going to say $100 per person on the high side just to see how much I can get for that in food, drink and the TV costs and if it ends up being lower I'll let you know. But there's expenses for everything, yet this is still a pretty cool idea. So if you can afford $100, we'll provide a meal, some drinks, the game and maybe more. ;) Let the fun and crazy ideas for "more" begin!!!

We can get a TV in the room where we'll have the Super and NFBC XIIs as well. In fact, our good friend Scott Keikoan might be able to help us out there. More to come on this, but the Bellagio is being very fair with us on this request and we'll be in good shape here. Thanks all.

Great news and spread the word to the rest of your breakfast mates. Think of the day: Imperial Palace breakfast, Main Event draft followed by a buffet, then 2 Final Four games, buffet, drinks, draft board analysis and camaraderie you can't find anywhere else in Vegas!! PRICELESS!! :D

I am pretty sure the games start much earlier than your projected times Greg so I would get that confirmed before you do much more specific planning. Times are usually 5 and 7:30 central which would be about a 3 tip out in Vegas.

I thought the same thing when I read Greg's post.

Just checked the NCAA.com site and C&D is correct, the Semifinals are set for 5 & 7:30 New Orleans (Central) time.

That's fine. We can start this right after the live events. The concept remains the same: 3-9 pm PT makes sense. We'll have food available for all Main Event drafters after the drafts are done around 2:30 pm and then food later in the afternoon for anyone who wants to watch the Final Four games. This still works out fine for everyone; actually better. GAME ON!!

Big Jim, did you read that there is a slight fee? I was afraid that if I added your
Name to the list the "CATCH" might require me to pick up the tab. Like always! ;)

Speaking of which.......Tom Z West - I've got you covered if you wish to join the party!

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Thanks Dallas. Yeah, let's make this happen. We need more than 10 people to secure the screens and the room, so if you're interested in attending with food and beverage, let me know. I'll add you to the list and collect out in Las Vegas. That's all I need. Thanks.

C'mon you bums! We were all over Greg to set this up so let's have some names. If you don't, we will have two topless dancers show up at your drafts/auctions to distract you...Chaz Bono and Rosie O'Donnell!

Maybe it helps if you mention this in your next NFBC e-mail?
Not everybody signed up to the live drafts are checking the
message boards. Can't seeing this not taking off on draft day.

Maybe the email can bring it to a wider net of your customer base
and hopefully generate a positive response.

This definitely will be in all newsletters going forward. I'm committed to making this happen, but it's definitely going to be an upfront cost to secure the room, TVs and order appropriate food and beverage. You can email me at [email protected] if you'd like and I'll even trust everyone to pay at the door. The key is starting this as an annual fun gathering after Draft Day and enjoying the games, draft boards and camaraderie afterwards. Should be fun, but we do need commitments.

I'd be seriously interested in this, but I have a XII I'm scheduled for that starts at either 4pm or 5pm dependent upon whether referencing the registration page or the message board signup list. Greg, do you happen to know which time is accurate?

Still, if it's a 4pm start and the draft ends early enough, I'd probably be into swinging by for the start of the 7pm game. Just save me some food Magner. :)

Greg, let me know. Thanks.

That should be 4 pm PT. I need to make sure we have everyone on the same page for that one. The error of two different times is on me.

I have a special deal for anyone who drafts at 4 pm and who wants to join us for the NCAA Viewing Party. I want all of you guys to attend after your drafts and we'll do that easily. Anyone drafting at 4:00 who plans on sticking around just let me know and I'll add you to the list and let you know what I have planned. Thanks.

Count me in as one of the "Drafting at 4pm" entries then. I'm thinking this get together should be a blast and part of what going to these live drafts is all about.

Lowy:

Nice to see that you'll be attending the party!

"Just save me some food Magner." Needless to say, I love the attention of a post including
my name, just not as much as others.

Now, here is my deal for you. I'll try real hard to save you some food. But, it turn you have to
promise going forward that you will STOP sucking up to Greg on every single thread. You are making
me ill pal! :D Start sticking your nose in those books - you have LOTS of money riding this year
in these contests. You had trouble last season when you made the jump from AAA to the majors - at
least in your Main Events!

Kidding aside, looking forward to competing against you in Mahwah and Vegas. Don't waste the
money on the makeup artist for the photo shoot holding that $1000,000 check.

Ken, no shame on my part that you were able to outplace me in BOTH Main Event leagues we battled against one another in last year. I'm just happy I managed to cash in one of those two leagues considering one cash spot in each was pretty much earmarked day one for the Great Magner. :)
Why do you think I'm "sucking up" to Greg? I'm hopeful he appreciates it and gives me an easier league placement at a table on the other side of the room from you this year. ;)

All joking aside Bud, it was good seeing you and Chip again at First Pitch last week and I'll see you two again in less than two weeks at the MtM. The live drafts are right around the corner and I'm psyched! 8-)

This little party in Vegas should just add to the fun. :D

It would be kinda fun to watch from behind the scenes when Greg and Tom pull the leagues
For the Main Events and list everything for all of us to see. Must be stressful for them to
Make sure everybody is accounted for and all the cities match up correctly.

Chip will be busy in Mahwah, he will be handling his own Auction team!

Cya in two weeks.

Please sign me up, but pretty sure games will be over by the time the Super at 4 is over. Will enjoy watching the games during the draft though. Hoping there is time to make a prop bet or 100 between main and the tips. In any event will hit this after the Super if it is still going on.
