JUST AN AMAZING, AMAZING SLOW DRAFT SEASON EVERYONE!!! THANKS AND GOOD LUCK!!

That says it all right there. We finished with 70 Slow Draft Leagues this year as we decided to shut them down today once we filled our 50th $150 Slow Draft League and our 15th $375 Slow Draft League. Believe it or not, we actually finished with 70 leagues for a record 1,050 teams in the Slow Draft Championship. We'll announce the final overall prize pool this week, but the grand prize will likely remain at $10,000 and we'll increase the number of teams winning prizes from 2nd to 15th or more. I need to figure all of that out tomorrow.

Here's the breakdown of leagues, again with each team contributing equally $25 to the overall prize pool:

50 - $150 Slow Draft Leagues
3 - $150 Fast/Slow Draft Leagues
1 - $150 October Slow Draft League
15 - $375 Slow Draft Leagues
1 - $1,000 Slow Draft League

That's 70 leagues for a total of 1,050 teams now battling for the $10,000 grand prize. Again, just AMAZING!!!

I know there are requests to do another Fast/Slow Draft League and I'm getting emails from folks now who want 1 more $150 Slow Draft, but honestly we're ready to move forward now with the drafting season. We have plenty of 15-team and 12-team satellite leagues available. Our $350 Online Championship league is not only doing well but I predict a record-breaking year for that contest. I really think our Countdown page and the way we're able to immediately run KDS and get a new league set up will lead to many last-minute full leagues in March and early April. And, of course, we still have a lot of work to do in the NFBC XII.

So we have a lot of other options out there. The Slow Draft Season has been a success and more than a dozen leagues are still drafting now. Every one of those leagues must be finished by April 4th and they will now that we've cut these off on March 5th. Good luck to everyone and once again, THANKS. THANK YOU FOR THIS SUPPORT!!

Next year, I predict even more than 70 leagues and maybe even a bigger grand prize. Great stuff!!

With over 1,000 teams battling for the overall, any thought of bumping up the prize to the overall champion? Just curious as beating out 1,000 other owners is quite a feat. Thanks.

Great job Greg and Tom. Amazing growth from one year to the next. I anticipate even more growth for this format next year as there seems to be a serious hunger for it. As you said, players are still lining up for more leagues. There's a buzz about this format as well, as even Shandler mentioned the phenomenon Saturday at his First Pitch Forum. Congrats again guys. I'm sure the rest of your contests and formats will follow suit.

Simply Awesome Guys! This has become one of my favorite formats and with 4 teams myself, I hope to compete for the Overall! Its cool to see all the new guys jump on board for this format and will be awesome to see them expand even further into the NFBC next year!

I agree. Besting this many teams should be rewarded with a bigger prize amount. Congrats on all of your success this year with this format exploding into what it has become.

What will the payouts be for teams who finish 2nd through 5th overall? Any prize increase there?

Unless I am missing something, I think the overall payout system is out of whack.

Yes, these will be changed drastically, which I've said before. The grand prize is already at $10,000 and everything else will be increased as well. I'll have those final figures this week. Thanks again all for the support.

It's possible. Let me do the math first and we'll see how it all plays out. Rewarding more overall winners also makes sense when you go from 300 teams to 1,050. Let's make sure we spread the wealth, but yes even the top prize has a chance for more love.

Have to keep it all in perspective, lest it end up like Lotto....too many teams soon becomes daunting in terms of finishing number 1, at least from an odds perspective and that could cause some to look elsewhere or spend less.

Where else you gonna look where $150 can get you $10,000+? Not many fantasy baseball websites out there with decent payouts, certainly none of this magnitued. I don't think too many people are cutting back on the lotto, what was the last winner, $366 mil? I don't see how/why NFBC would cap off the number of teams "spending" money!
