Okay, I have good news and bad news about the Ultimate Leagues. We officially have 45 owners who have committed to the NFBC Ultimate Leagues: 30 for the Draft Leagues and 15 for the Auction League. The bad news, I have three other owners who also want to get in.



I will list the official lineup right here, but we're not going to do anything with the leagues yet. I have advised our show division not to hit the credit cards for the Ultimate Leagues until Feb. 21st so that we don't put everything on one billing. We also will give these a couple more weeks to see if there's enough interest for more signups before coming to a conclusion.



Let's use this thread to discuss any issues you guys have about the KDS system, if there is any interest in an alternative draft spot selection process and anything else. I'll listen and determine what we're doing after that.



Right now we have 13 owners in Las Vegas for the Ultimate Auction League and two in New York. I know we could get to 14 in Las Vegas for this and there's another owner interested in New York. Not insinuating anything, just stating what's out there.



For the Ultimate Draft League, we have 15 owners in Las Vegas for a full league, 11 in New York, 3 in Chicago and one in Tampa. Could we try for a full league in New York and fill up another teleconference league? Probably not, but I won't say no right now.

A proposal was made to use FAAB dollars to bid on draft position. Here's how the process was described:



The process would be similar to weekly bids during the season: Bid on your preferred draft positions (in ranked order), then assign an FAAB amount to each bid. Teams that don’t win a bid would have their full $1000 of FAAB money and would be randomly assigned to the remaining slots.



Are you in favor of allowing FAAB bids to determine draft position? If you are signed up for the 2006 Ultimate Draft, please respond to this thread with a vote of “yes”, “no” or “indifferent”. Among those who had signed up for Ultimate Draft, the vote was 8 in favor of FAAB bidding, 1 opposed, and 1 indifferent.



The "ayes" were Chris Fleming, Steve Wells, Stanley Kaye, Rick Thomas, Aaron Seefeldt, Eric Peden, Jesse Herron, and Golden Eagle (sorry, don't know the real name).



Chris Schinker opposed, and David DiDonato was indifferent.



We haven't heard from the rest of the Ultimate participants. What are your thoughts on allowing FAAB bids to assign draft position? Any further discussion from those who have already voted?

eric - i take it you are a fan of BBDS (Blind Bidding on Draft Slots)?

I’ll put in my two cents: Using FAAB dollars to bid for draft position is a better method because it adds another element of strategy to the contest and removes random assignment. So, if it’s important to you that you land A-Rod, you can bid to make that happen. If you prefer to be in the middle of the draft, you can bid to make that happen. If you think draft position is irrelevant, you can save your FAAB dollars and gain an advantage over your league mates during the season. I vote yes.

Hope we are considered one of the 3 teams on the bubble for Ultimate leages- we definitely want in, especially in the auction league, and would request to the owners to expand to 16 teams and take our extra 5k for the pot...

Othwerise, hope you can open a 4th ultimate league (maybe some of the 30 in ultimate draft leagues would want to do another big $ league and we could do an auction at a time other than sun afternoon, i.e. sat or sun night...)

Also, how's this for a coincidence: Four of the 11 New York owners for the tri-city Ultimate Draft were together in the 2004 NFBC event in New York League 1 (Artie, Leo, Matt and me). You could add Eddie Gillis to that list, too, but he'll be in Vegas. New York won't be the same without you Eddie.

Both of us are due in these Ultimate leagues. I would love to due another ultimate, now if we can just get Greg away from the tables and put another draft SAT night..

FYI - We have another celebrity on these boards. Maybe not as high profile as Meat Loaf, but fellas "The Crunch and Munch Man" wants to throw his hat in the ring. A Boston vending legend, Dave Kerpen! An impressive resume that includes selling Crunch and Munch at the then Fleet Center, working at Fenway Park, and a FOX reality show Paradise Island contestant. But can he pick a Fantasy team. We shall see...

We have another interested owner who would like to do an Ultimate Auction League in New York. We'll just keep taking names and see what happens. Hang in there Dave as maybe we'll be able to pull something off yet.

How great would it be if we were able to get four Ultimate Leagues? This was an idea that stemmed from conversation here on the boards and has grown into a vital part of our NFBC event. The credit's all to you guys for making it happen and continuing to make it happen.

Hey...Krunch and Munch Dave...how are you? I watched that show. I heard you lost weight. I see you are getting married. Congrats! I actually didn't want to watch the show at first, but did with my friends and became hooked. I loved how the four of you began picking off everyone else. At the end, did the girl share any money with you? (I forget her name...Charla or Charlotte) Well, hope you get in! Good to see things are going well for you.

I dont think I will be able to make it for Sunday, March 19th so I am willing to give up my spot if someone wants to take it, provided my card has not been charged or that I will be reimbursed in the case it already has been.



I will stay in the Satellite league for 1k, perhaps also $500, and I will probably join the Main Event on Saturday if for no other reason than to annoy Glenn for a 3rd straight year.

Thanks Glenn and I hope to be in the same NFBC league again for the natural hatrick. I have a feeling however that this year you and Pete are due for a money finish. Just a hunch.



I was excited about the 5k event but it might just be to big a step for me and my old man at this point in our young Roto careers. Perhaps next season will be my time to play in the Ultimate Leagues. However, as I explained to Greg, if for any reason there is a problem filling the spot, we of course would honor our commitment and field a team!



Just waiting to hear from Greg and then will go from there with entry into the NFBC.

Oh, and I'm all for using the FAAB money to bid for draft position.

Here's a quick vote count on bidding for draft position: 11 are in favor of FAAB bidding, 2 are opposed, and 1 is indifferent. We still haven't heard from several Ultimate drafters, so keep those votes coming in!



FWIW - the three new "ayes" are Eddie Gillis, Chris Goudey, and Dave Cushard (forgot to mention Dave earlier in the thread, but you can see his vote at http://nfbcboards.stats.com/cgi-bin/ult ... p=1#000003). Jason Duponte is the new "no" voter.

Greg - what criterion are you planning to use to determine whether we'll switch from KDS to BBDS this year?
