Conditional Bid?

Ok, this is the first time since 2009 I have done the the Free Agent thing on NFBC and am a little confused on how & why to do the Conditional Bid.
Here is the the instructions on the page.
Enter Conditional Bids If Necessary To add a conditional bid for anyasfd primary bid, click on "add conditional." That changes the "place bid" link to "add conditional" next to each player's name in the free agent lists. Click on "add conditional" and the player will be added as a conditional bid. When you're done adding conditional bids, click cancel to add another primary bid.
My goal is to pick up 1 player and drop 1 player. I am bidding $2 on the player I want and dropping the other guy. I have a back up guy I would like to bid on for $1 and drop the same player I wanted to drop if I got my first choice. Is that when I make one of them a conditional pick?
And what does "anyasfd" mean?
Thanks a lot for any help.
