Storen will visit Dr. James Andrews after experiencing soreness in his elbow Sunday, Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post reports.
Spin: The Nationals were hoping rest would cure Storen's ailment, so it's not good news that his elbow was sore after an extended period off. The Nationals believe Tommy John surgery won't be necessary, but they also think Storen may be dealing with chipped bone fragments, which would require some sort of surgical procedure. A full diagnosis won't be available until after Storen's visit to Dr. Andrews, but it looks like he could miss much more than the couple weeks the Nationals initially hoped he would miss. If Storen sits out for an extended period, the Nationals could turn to any of Tyler Clippard, Henry Rodriguez, or Brad Lidge in a save situation, though one of them would likely get a chance to secure the job.
