daddy, what's a conundrum?

well,

pretend you own gio gonzalez and henry rodriguez. last night, brad lidge came on in the ninth to 'nail down' the save after gonzalez was lifted after only 91 pitches. lidge gave up a lead-off double, then a walk, and went 3-0 on the next batter.

what outcome do you hope for?

If I owned both those players I wouldn't wish for Lidge to blow Gio's W if that is what you are suggesting. I guess if he had given up a run or two and forced them to go to H-Rod that would have been a best case for you. But you just have to be patient - Lidge will implode soon enough if you are lucky.

That one is actually quite easy. Lidge to blow it because it gives Rodriguez more value in the future.

I hardly ever disagree with the Chester, but I will here.
I take my W's where I can get them. Lidge can blow up saving some other pitcher's game.

I'd think what happened was pretty close to optimal. Lidge looking terrible but getting the SV nonetheless.
