San Diego Padres SP Cory Luebke (elbow) will miss at least his next start with elbow tightness and soreness- When I hear that stuff - "elbow tightness and soreness" it generally is code for Tommy John surgery.

Sounds familiar....storen, pelfry, etc...
Padres placed LHP Cory Luebke on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 28, with left elbow soreness

According to reports, Cory Luebke may need Tommy John surgery to repair his injured elbow.
Luebke went for an MRI Wednesday morning, and the Padres are awaiting the results with baited breath. If Luebke were to need the surgery, it would be a devastating blow to him and to the Padres rotation. Stay tuned for further updates as we know more about the situation.

For the record, Storen didn't need TJ surgery. He just had bone fragments removed. Might be the same for Luebke... at least hoping its not for the year.

Is it better to have someone that you know is hurt like Luebke....
Or, somebody that sucks and could be hurt in Josh Johnson?
I'd almost rather have Luebke....

After last night's performance at Petco by JJ, I'd rather have Luebke. However, now it's sounding more likely that Luebke is done for the year. TJ surg likely.

Interesting conversation on a broadcast the other day about how major leaguers do not practice sliding. That most clubs feel the players should know how by the time they reach the top level.
Still, every pitcher knows to cover first base on a ball to the right side and that is still practiced.
Maybe with these base running mishaps, sliding in particular, maybe sliding should be addressed in spring training again...
