CHIPPER!

what an end to an epic game.
Doc has gotten jackshit for run support this yr and yet blows a 6 run lead

....and that was just the beginning

Chooch, like the faithful sidekick Sancho Panza, did his part to ensure Doc Quixote did not suffer the loss w/ 7 RBI !
this game went back n forth, in the bot. of the 8th w/ the Phils up 12-8 and Contreras on the mound JRoll botched an EZ double play (Chipper hit it rt up middle to him) this was crucial, as Braves went on to score 5 and take the lead, w/ the beast Kimbrel lurking.
Kimbrel came out and promptly threw 4 pitches no where near the strike zone to Pierre, who wisely never took the bat off his shoulder...than lil Juan stole 2B. when JRoll was punched out on a called third strike that was so far outside that Tom Glavine started talking about a comeback

hey, he's 3 yrs younger than Moyer

I thought the Phils were cooked. but SUPERSHANE came to the rescue, legging out an infield hit by a step, tying the game at 13
the great Brian Sanches was in his 3rd inn of relief when Chipper came to bat. after nearly winning the game w/ a HR that was foul by a hair, Chipper straightened it out a bit and hit the GW 2 Run HR.
Honestly, is there anyone else you'd want up there w/ the game on the line? The guy is a Ninja. W/ apologies to George Brett, Mike Schmidt is probably the consensus best 3B ever. To me Chipper is #2, over Brett, and rt on Schmitty's ass. If not for the injuries (and he did play LF abit) he may be the best ever.
oh, and they flashed a stat tonight, Chip had the most GW RBI among active players, 8 ahead of ARod. He got 2 more. Bastard

It's a shame the first thing that comes to mind is how often he's injured. Imagine his number with another 300 games played.

Got Chipper for a $1 at the auction championship, and in the 30th round in the main.
Like he wasn't going to have a nice year in his swan song tour. I understand about the injury concerns etc., but seriously ... 30th round pick, and a $1 ?????? ... as long as you have a back-up plan, he's a steal at value like that.
(by the way, the back-up plan -- 29th round pick -- Kyle Seager -- had 2 HR's last night too). I had 19 RBI in one league last night! (yes, I had chooch going at C).
Crazy night.

I used to doubt Chipper Jones is a HOF'er, but in the last few years I have completely flip flopped on it and now I think he is a likely 1st Ballot guy. The switch hitting Third Baseman and long time face of the Braves Franchise is a class act, who I believe has played clean his entire career. If I had a vote I would vote for Chipper over ARod everytime.
Enjoy these special moments of Chippers last year in the bigs, because guys like him aren't made much anymore!

Plus he named his kid after one of the greatest stadiums in the history of sport. First ballot HOF.
By the way and in regards to how undervalued he was going into the year, I was able to pick him up first week in FAAB for the Ultimate Auction.

just fwi on chipper. 1st 10 seasons and till age 32 season chipper averaged 153 games played: 140,157,157,160,157,156,159,158,153,137. YUOOOOOK, longoria, sandoval, wright, zimmerman, aram, rolen either didn't or won't get near that. freese was hurt 80 times before this year- and i would be holding my breath if i owned him.

Actually, I was referring to Chipper's son, Shea. Still Max, I'm impressed that you know that Shea has a twin brother, Wrigley, since Chipper and his wife understandably never went public about that child.
Here's a rare picture of Shea and especially Wrigley (on the right) watching the game last night after a called strike on their Dad that they both felt was well outside......
