The heck with all of these "outside" experts we've been bringing on here for live chats. I'm the real deal here!!!

I'm going live at 2 p.m. EST to take your questions, talk about my upcoming LABR League drafts with John Zaleski, talk about the signups in the NFBC, figure out a way to sell out all of our auction leagues and even talk about our deal with MLBAM. Who wants a piece of me?
Bring on your questions and I'll be ready for a fun hour at 2 p.m. EST. I'm ready for everything!!!

Greg, I know it's not 2 yet but ill throw this one in the queue. 1. How's the content rich NFBC/NFBC specific website going ? (if I correctly recall you mentioning) Is your goal for it to be similar to a rotoworld / TMR (i.e.updated player news/daily articles/score feed )type site or something a little less ambitious ?

I got one for you Greg. You see any bargains coming out of the Marlin fiasco? I'm not talking about Cabrera, Willis or even Hermida. I'm talking more about the hodge-podge of talent they're gonna be throwing out there daily around those guys. Josh Willingham, Eric Reed, Mike Jacobs, Hanley Ramirez...you see any of these guys as having the potential for more than is expected of them?

Zaleski has a shorter memory than me and he needs to cram the night before each test.
Tell Jason to spend $220 on hitting again and hope for those cheap starters with wins. He won't get them with us around. His strategy is well known and he's going down this year.
Actually, with 12 owners doing both auctions this should be a lot of fun. I already know the tendencies of guys like Wolf and Nate, but it will be fun to jump into the bidding against them each night. We've done our homework, we know what we need to score in each category and we have our "wish" list done. Now we'll see how crazy the bidding goes for our desired players.
I'm ready for LABR. More importantly, I'm ready for Phoenix, ready to see three spring training games, and ready for that Doubletree hot tub and a six-pack of Corona's!

Two years ago today, the main board topic was how much the prize fund would be reduced given that the eventual 195 teams seemed to be a dream. You lobbied for and were able to maintain the published prize list thereby eliminating any chance of a profit to a company who likes profits. I guess you are smiling a big smile now. This is just a congratulations on a job well done.

Sounds like fun, but be careful. Alcohol and hot tubs are a dangerous combo.

Unfortunately, that part of my plan has been put on hold while I was dealing with the leagues for licenses. It's next on my wish list, but it's a tough time in the industry. It's impossible to start a fantasy content site from scratch and hope for meaningful traffic. I believe we need to buy a content site and build upon it with my experts in the NFBC and NFFC as regular columnists. I'd make several of you columnists and really turn this into an incredible information site for fantasy players by fantasy players. Nobody needs another source of wire player feeds, but a combination of that and columnists from guys who have won $100,000, $40,000, multiple $5,000 league titles, etc., makes sense.
My CEO has told me to prove to him how this could work financially and I'll be doing just that after Draft Day. It's a work in progress as acquisitions at this time are tough in an industry where a major lawsuit hangs over everyone's head, so I need to be patient with this idea. But it's time will come, no doubt in my mind.

Hi Greg,
Is there going to be any media coverage for this years draft?
I can recall a couple of years ago seeing an HBO special on the WCOFF draft.

Switching topics for a moment, do you believe the National Fantasy Basketball Championship has a future? I haven't seen the results for the other league, but our league has been incredibly competitive this year--incredibly, the top 7 teams are within 8 points of one another (67-65-65-63-62-61-59). I sincerely hope you can make another go at basketball next year, with a NFBC/NFFC-style over-all champion. Maybe even a live draft at the NBA Store in Manhattan.

Hi greg,
In a snake draft are you concerned with position scarcity? Would you be comfortable if after 6 rounds if you had a 1B, 3 OF's, a SP, and a closer? Or are you forced to take a 2B, SS, 3B with one of those picks even though the OF may be the better player? Thanks
Jason

It's a great question as bad teams always seem to reap a few bargains. I'm just not sure the Marlins have any bargains there because the prospects seem to be going high. Hermida could go for $16 in an NL-only auction and he's played only 23 games above Double-A. Willingham is probably the best bargain as he qualifies at catcher and has six years of pro experience, a worthy track record. I think Willingham could be a bargain, Chris Aguila could be a $1 bargain, Scott Olsen could be a solid $1 bargain and maybe Joe Borowski sneaks in as the closer. I'm not sure that Mike Jacobs (39th round picks scare me even if they did have one big season) or Hanley Ramirez can perform enough this year for me to dive in, but you never know.

Unless STATS surprises me, I don't have any information on real-time standings, which is what you're asking for. We have real-time scoring, just not real-time standings. We'll see what the future brings and if we can do this next year.
I hope to have some kind of wireless application for you guys to check your results this season. We actually had plans to unveil it last year, but it didn't get done in time. Stay tuned as I think that could be fun to get your standings, results, etc., via your cell phone.

If things go wrong at the main event draft, who should we notify at each site? What I'm referring to is subjects discussed on these boards that may not be known by all the players. Examples are laptops being plugged in by extension cords, people wandering about and possibly looking at lists, moderators who are far too quiet or loud, helpers who don't know and can't find players in a timely manner, forgetting that we break after the 10th and 20th round (unless all teams agree to some alternative), etc.
Can the name of that person be made available either here, but better yet, at the site? And can that person realize that something needs to be done if these problems exist and not shrug his shoulders and essentially ignore the problem? I'm not saying this happened last year in my draft but our helper had no clue which explain our draft taking over 5 hours. Also I recall people saying that several "rules" were routinely broken and ignored by whoever was in charge. I hear you say that all supervisors have the same set of rules but it is hard to ensure that in four cities.

[/QUOTE]The program doesn't tell us who to pick. It tells us in many ways instantly what's going on with the draft. You need to study more. My cheet sheet is on one page.
