$$ FAAB ALERT - Middle Infielders $$

Post by Gekko » Sun May 20, 2012 6:14 am

This week we lost the likes of:
1. Dee Gordon - Could be demoted to AAA this week
2. Emilio Bonifacio - Could be placed on DL with thumb injury
3. Mark Ellis - Out at least 6 weeks after having surgery
4. Orlando Hudson - Released by Padres

NOW, what MI are still available on waiver wire this week? Best double whatever bid amount you were going to go. There looks to be a lot of owners trying to pick up whatever talent is out there.

Agree Gek, picked up Tyler Greene last week, just for insurance...He doesn't play much, but when he does, he can be productive. I'll take that for a fill-in while someone's on the DL.

Gordon and Hudson have been worthless all year. most owners should have already benched or replaced them. Ellis for some reason has been available in most leagues even still. No need to double on a MI this week, plenty of pickings for a few bucks still.

not sure what leagues u are talking about...gordon has been a 90%+ starter. ellis was a 50%+ starter in leagues. {boni was a 90%+ starter}

there's a lot of pain at MI this week. go hard after your MI today or be faced with the possibility of getting a big ZERO this week. sure there are plenty of pickings if you don't mind:
1. a part-time player
2. a middle infielder who brings nothing to the table (ie, no hr; no sb, no runs; no rbi)

i'm guessing T.Greene, Dozier and Plouffe are the BIG MI targets this week.

good luck!

PS - with youk coming off DL on tuesday, middlebrooks turns into lottery ticket pumpkin again. also, rumors are starting to creep in that Tex has Valley Fever
(Mark Teixeira has been battling the issue all season, and the team is unsure how to treat it and doesn't know when he'll be 100 percent again. "We’ve tried everything," Teixeira said. "That’s why rest is the last effort here. I’ve taken more medicine than I’d liked to. I think I’m done with that option. Rest is kind of the final option.") :? :x

I scoured the internet and there is not one mention of TEX and Valley Fever anywhere. Where is your source or who is saying Valley Fever? Me thinks Dr. Gekko is reaching here. There is a simple test for Valley fever and Tex has been cleared of that.

From the NY times yesterday: "The cough has been diagnosed as a symptom of severe congestion in his bronchial passageways. Teixeira has had numerous tests and nothing more serious has been detected, he said. He has been assured by doctors that it will eventually disappear"

just remember when if it comes out that he has valley fever where you heard it first. remember, the news available to the public RIGHT NOW is this..."the team has no idea how to treat it".

Again- No one is saying Valley Fever, that is misinformation.
The news available to the public is some Schmo at Rotoworld making his own interp. But I will Remember Dr. Gekko's diagnosis and will rememebr where I heard it first.

Mark Teixeira could miss a third straight start Sunday due to his severely inflamed bronchial airways."I said, ‘You know, we’ve tried to give you a day off when there’s a scheduled day off and you haven’t gotten better, so we’ll give you a day off and may give you [today] to see if we can knock this bronchial problem out,’" Yankees manager Joe Girardi said.

Rotoworld Interp: Teixeira has been battling the issue all season, and the team is unsure how to treat it and doesn't know when he'll be 100 percent again.

"We’ve tried everything," Teixeira said. "That’s why rest is the last effort here. I’ve taken more medicine than I’d liked to. I think I’m done with that option. Rest is kind of the final option." May 20 - 9:30 AM

the source for Rotoworld was originally from the NY Post:
But Teixeira said he is not worried about the situation, despite the uncertainty.

“They think they kind of know what it is, they just don’t know exactly how long it’s going to take to get out of there and start feeling better,” Teixeira said. “I’ve seen specialists and it may just be a matter of time. There’s nothing to be worried about. All the tests are OK.”

i'm no doctor, but i do live in the desert. Valley Fever is almost exclusively found in this climate.

How does a guy who plays for the NY Yankees get Valley Fever ?

Perhaps the Hudson Valley

The fungi that cause valley fever — Coccidioides immitis or Coccidioides posadasii — thrive in the alkaline desert soils of southern Arizona, Nevada, northern Mexico and California's San Joaquin Valley. They're also endemic to New Mexico, Texas, and parts of Central and South America — areas with mild winters and arid summers.

Dallas, Texas. Desert climate.

Almost as funny as trying to find buoyancy on a squad after the devastating news about Orlando Hudson!

I used to enjoy your Sunday $FAAB$ posts, Gek. This year though, you're really searching for material. Your message has lost its 'freshness'. Time to send you to AAA to work on your game. This isn't cutting it this year.

Dr. Gekko - not for nothing, but now you are saying he got Valley Fever while in Texas? Its a well known fact that by TEX's own admission, he first started getting the symptoms the week before the season started, so by that known fact, it would rule out your diagnosis of Valley Fever being contracted in Texas. His msitake was not sitting out a few games earliar, having played 37 of the first 38.

perhaps he was sick with something early in the season and then got unlucky with the trip to texas and got the fever?

So what are we betting? Kid has always struck out in the minors, but he can still rake, run a little and play solid defense.

without the ross injury, he was headed to minors. a 48% K rate is one of the worst i've ever seen. it all comes out in the wash. we'll see how long he lasts in the outfield (probably not long)

Do not have to worry. Middlebrooks will be back at third base by the weekend because the "Wimpy" Youkilis will break wind his first day back and go on the DL with a strained tushy.

Tonight's lineup:

1. Mike Aviles (R) SS
2. Dustin Pedroia (R) 2B
3. David Ortiz (L) DH
4. Adrian Gonzalez (L) RF
5. Kevin Youkilis (R) 1B
6. Will Middlebrooks (R) 3B
7. Jarrod Saltalamacchia (S) C
8. Daniel Nava (S) LF
9. Marlon Byrd (R) CF

All star 1B A-Gone in RF and Kevin "P***y" Youkilis (At least that is what Glenn likes to call him) playing 1B.

While "Curtain must come up, strikes out too much" rookie Will Middlebrooks is playing 3B. Hmmmmm, I guess your right Mark. The kid does not belong why else would you move all those guys around to accommodate him?
