Firesale in Beantown?
MLB Trade Rumors suggesting that A-Gonz, Beckett and Crawford could be going to the Dodgers....if this is anywhere near the truth, it would be one of the biggest house-cleaning jobs I've ever seen.

Sounds like a done deal. Around $250 million in Boston contracts for James Loney and some good prospects.

As a disgruntled Boston fan who can't stomach watching his overpaid, underachieving, dysfunctional team, I think this is a great trade for the Red Sox if it happens. Getting out from under Carl Crawford's huge contract is unfathomable. Josh Beckett checked out on the Red Sox months ago. He may well feel the urge to actually pitch again when he arrives in Los Angeles. In Boston, his competitive fire is permanently extinguished. As for Yo' Adrian, you have to give up something. To get a pretty decent package of young players coming back while getting huge financial relief and a clubhouse cleansing is astonishing.
The deal may be a good one for the Dodgers too, but that pretty much hinges on Beckett. If he shows up, their rotation gets a big boost in October. I still can't imagine why they're taking on Crawford's contract. That package of young talent, plus taking Beckett off the Sox hands should be enough to land Gonzalez.
