I know most of you are baseball players, but I thought you might be bored when the baseball season is over so I thought I'd tell you something about our football game. Over the past nine months, I've been writing free fantasy baseball and football content for SportsDraftDaily. Our site launched a $200,000 football contest in week one with an entry fee of $10. Each week over the first 16 weeks one fantasy player will win a chance to compete in the championship round where the winner will win $100,000. There will also be four secondary tournaments with at a higher price point ($100) to win a seat during the year.
This NFBC has some of the best fantasy players in the country and I would much rather see someone win the overall title come from this community. We were late releasing our game and he had a short field in week one (280 teams). I think week 2 will provide another great opportunity as we are trying to expand our customer base. We will also be launching a baseball game in the Spring.

Good Luck over the last 17 days of the baseball season, CC's Desperados

Each week there is going to be a tense moment on Monday as the seat to SportsDraftDaily's Championship round will be decided late in Monday's night game. This week's winner Diesel had a love/hate relationship with Eli Manning. Manning's poor play early forced him to throw the ball more often which resulted in a plus score from him plus it allowed both of his starting WR's to have elite games. The combination of Eli Manning (26.2), Hakeem Nicks (30.9), and Victor Cruz (29.4) combined for 86.5 points.

The top three teams all used Eli Manning and Victor Cruz. The second place team didn't use Hakeem Nicks. C.J. Spiller (30.5) was the top scoring RB and he was owned by the 2nd and 3rd place team.

As deadly as the Giants combo was, Diesel still need to get solid production from the rest of his players. Every other player on his team scored double digit points. Here's the winning team:

As great as his week was, he still had to hold off a hard charging Hammer team. Hammer finished in 3rd place with 159.5 points. He had Tony Gonzalez and Julio Jones playing on Monday night, but his team fell one catch and 10 yards short of first place. The second half of the Atlanta game must have been pure agony for Hammer. He was within 2.4 points of first place with just under 12 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Over the last 27 minutes of the game, Tony Gonzalez didn't have a catch and Julio Jones only caught 1 pass for 6 yards (2:28 minutes left in the game).

The 2nd place Segway had a solid week, but he didn't have any window to catch Diesel as all of his players were done by 4 PM. He won $500 for his efforts. He's his roster:

When you look at the final scores, the winning margin really came down to the kicker. It's amazing to see how close these scores are each week and the different in winning or losing is really an extra point.

Last week the SportsDraftDaily's tournament had 371 entries which is still well short of the projected prize pool which means it is a great opportunity for the player community. The overall entries in the championship game rose 30.2 % last week which is a good sign the word is getting out about our game. I would expect the entries to grow to the mid 400's level this week which will create another solid chance for someone to win a chance at winnings $100,000.

I think many players may not understand that you can enter multiple teams. By having open entries, it gives a the entries a chance at reaching higher levels. If this game develops over team, it will allow SportsDraftDaily to offer larger tournaments down the road. I think there are between 100,000 and 200,000 people playing daily fantasy games compared to over 30,000,000 players playing fantasy sports. This area of fantasy space will continue to grow and I think the football game will have the highest amount of interest.

Week 3 recap:

When opportunity knocks, the wise guys are always ready to pounce on the next score. When the lights were turned on at SportsDraftDaily.com’s $200,000 Championship, several fantasy players made a strong move in an attempt to win a seat into the Championship Round in week 17. One of those players accomplished that goal this week. reUPsports outdueled NFBC Hall of Famer Quahogs 173.66 to 171.04.

Quahogs jumped to the top of the leader board with explosive days from Jamaal Charles (37.8), A.J. Green (29.9), and Calvin Johnson (27.4). Heading into the late game on Sunday night, he was trailing first place by about 5 points with his TE Dennis Pitta left to play. His chances looked real good to take the lead, but he had to be extremely fearful of the reUPsports team that also owned Pitta and an ace in-the-hole with Ray Rice. With 2 minutes left in the first half, Quahogs had to be antsy. Pitta had no points and Rice was slowly eating away at his lead. When Joe Flacco hit Pitta in the right flat and he made an athletic move to score a TD, Quahogs had to feel good.

At half time Rice had 50 total yards and 1 catch for 5.5 points, the tide of self doubt now shifted to reUPsports, who now questioned whether Rice was going to deliver him to the Championship Round.

When the gate opened in the second half, it was almost all Ray Rice on the Ravens first drive. He touched the ball five times (1 catch) for 32 yards and 1 TD for 8.7 points. Quahogs lead was now less than 7 points. I could almost feel the mood change in the two households. Quahogs clicked off the TV as he headed to bed. He couldn't stand the pain of watching Ray Rice slowly take away his moment of glory. Meanwhile reUPsports is now wired, as he can now feel the momentum shift in his favor. His excitement quickly diminished on the Ravens next drive when Ray Rice was standing on the sidelines. reUPsports had to watch 12 painful minutes go by with not one fantasy point scored by Ray Rice. With 4:48 left in the game on what was Ray Rice's second to last touch of the game, reUPsports had his moment when Rice broke open for 27 yards on a pass from Joe Flacco, which delivered the margin of victory in this weeks tournament. It was a great night for reUPsports and congrats on a well deserved victory. Here's his winning team:

The third place team was waiverwire (166.96). He is one of the top dogs in this contest, as he really understands the opportunity here. He has pushed all-in three weeks in a row trying to win a seat. He is playing the odds and he has math on his side. With a small field and big overlay, waiverwire has covered enough combinations with each QB that will almost guarantee a return on his bankroll each week even if he doesn't come in first place. He also realizes that his window may be short, as his chances of winning a seat would severely diminish if the number of entries were to rise. In buying 50 teams ($500), he has had a 1/7 chance of cashing on each entry, plus he has had a 15 % chance of winning the seat. This week he entered nearly 50 teams and won over $1,200 in prize money. Here's waiverwire's 3rd place team that scored 166.96 points:

Week 4 should be another exciting week, as we will be offering an additional opportunity to win a “seat” to the Championship Round in week 17. There will be four (4) Quarter-pole Qualifiers for the $200,000 Championship that take place in weeks 4, 8, 12, and 16. These qualifiers will carry a $100 entry fee and the competition is capped at 125 entries. These four Quarter-pole winners will join the 16 winners from the $10 Qualifiers to comprise the 20 finalists that will compete for the $100,000 first place prize in week 17. Good Luck!

Last week I made a post where I said the target score each week should be 150 points in the SportsDraftDaily Championship. We had 452 entries this week and we only had one team break the 150 barrier. StoneWashedJackson won the week with a score of 151.26 points. The defining moment in his final scored happened with just over 4 minutes left in the Patriots/Bills game. Tom Brady hit Brandon Lloyd for a 25 yards touchdown pass which gave StoneWashedJackson 9 more points which was just enough to beat WaiverWire who finished with 148.80 points.

WaiverWire has been knocking the door each week as he is committed to winning a seat in the championship round. He had Tom Brady and Brandon Lloyd on his roster and he needed one more score to push his name to the top of the scoreboard, but he didn’t want that player to be Lloyd. His heartbreaking moment came with 2:49 minutes left in the Packers game. WaiverWire had Mason Crosby as his kicker and he needed one more field goal to take over first place. When Garrett Hartley banded through a 48 yard field goal, it appeared Green Bay may have their chance to kick a game winning field which would deliver WaiverWire to the championship round. Unfortunately there was a penalty on kick which took the points off the board and it moved New Orleans back five yards. On his next attempt, the Packers were off sides which moved the ball back to the 31 yard line. When Hartley’s second kick sailed wide left, WaiverWire was almost out of bullets. Green Bay made one first down which enabled them to run out the clock and it sealed the victory for StoneWashedJackson.

This week we had the highest entries of the year and I know there has been frustration by the players with the small bankrolls as they have watched a couple of players try and roll it up by entering multiple teams in our tournament. When you are trying to grow a business in the daily space, it is really tough to find the balance where everyone has the same chance of winning. Every fantasy player has a different financial threshold. The whale player can push his way around against a small field, but there isn’t a guarantee he will win. By playing multiple teams, he has math on his side, but it still only takes one other player to get it right to ruin his best made plans. If one player risks $10 and another player risk $500, it is clear which player has the edge. It is also clear which player has the most risk. It then comes down to risk/reward. My reward is much greater when I risk less money. I really only have to get it “right” 3 times out of a 100 to have an edge over the big player in this example. The big stack has to get it right over 98 % to have a slight edge. In this case, by getting it right, you could have a big reward if you can win the overall prize of $100,000. It really comes down to this: how much are you willing to commit to winning the overall prize?

In the future as the daily game space grows, I’m sure there will be big tournaments that have single entries. For now, we are at the mercy of the game. We posted a game with an excellent prize pool which favors the players. The only way to insure higher entries is to allow multiple entries by each player. By doing this, hopefully the opportunity is strong enough where the overall fantasy pool increases which then pushes the overall entries higher which will make it tougher on the “Wise Guys”.

By giving game history of what has won in the past, it should help players understand what they need to win each week. As the overall entries grow, it is going to get tougher each week. We have four weeks of winners and our target winning score is around 150 points. You need about 10 points from your kicker and your other 7 players need to average about 20 points each. If there are a couple of players in any week that score really high scores, it is going to push the overall winning scores higher.

Our goal each week is to make fantasy players make tough decisions each week. By doing this, it should make it tougher on the big stacks as most of the layup plays are removed. It can never be perfect as there are multiple midweek injuries during the year. Our prices are locked on Tuesday for each week’s games.

It was a great win for StoneWashedJackson who entered 7 teams. He had a second entry that finished 3rd overall, but all of his other entries finished 204th or below. He had 5 teams where he wasn’t even close. His winning team was well constructed and he didn’t focus one team or game. Roddy White (32.90) was the impact player this week. Here’s the winning roster:

NFBC Player Roger Martin just missed winning a seat this week.

It was a wild week in the NFL where multiple WR's posted plus scores. The TE position was tricky because there were more top players that failed than had success. Tony Gonzalez (24.80) was the only TE that was difference maker. Jimmy Graham (0.90) was injured early in the Saints game and he really killed the teams that owned him. Showstopper went against the grain at the TE position (Fasano) this week to save salary which allowed him to roster Drew Brees, Marques Colston, and Devery Henderson. They combined for 86.5 points which was more than 50 % of his winning score. Showstopper won the 6th seat in SportsDraftDaily's $200,000 Championship with a score of 169.80.

Showstopper took Ahmad Bradshaw (30.90) who ended up being a layup as he had the lowest priced for a starting RB plus he had a very good matchup. There was concern going into the game that Andre Brown would split carries, but Brown suffered a concussion early in the game. When Bradshaw was having success early in the game rushing the ball, the Giants decided to ride the hot hand. Bradshaw was the highest scoring back on the week.

The top two teams this week used the same combination of Brees and Bradshaw. Showstopper was in the clubhouse while Rog11sm was 21.5 points behind with Owen Daniels left on Monday night. Daniels probably needed to score 2 TD's to beat Showstopper. When Owen Daniels had 2 catches for 48 yards and 1 TD in the first four minutes of the game, Rog11sm was in the game. At the end of the 3rd quarter, Daniels had only caught 2 more passes (4/79 and 1 TD). It was just enough where Rog11sm could win if Daniels could score his 2nd TD. His only chance to win happen with just over a minute left in the 3rd quarter when Houston was at the five yards line. Schaub attempted one pass which ended up going to Andre Johnson. In the 4th quarter, the Texans only had one first down as they ran the ball trying to run out the clock.

Rog11sm also nailed his WR's as he used Reggie Wayne (33.6) and Brandon Marshall (26.4). He was outscored at the WR position by Showstopper (61.10 - 60.00). Showstopper used Marques Colston (35.60) and Victor Cruz (25.50). They combined for an amazing 6 TD's. Colston really benefited for the injury to Jimmy Graham as he saw 18 targets. Rog11sm just couldn't over the come the great game by Devery Henderson (22.3).

The 3rd place team was WaiverWire. He has been knocking on the door every week, but he just can't find the winning combination to put him over the top. Each week the number of entries have grown which is making it tougher to win a seat. This week we had 518 entries. WaiverWire went against the grain by using Alex Smith (29.02). He used Vernon Davis (13.10) as the hookup, but he could have pushed the envelope one step further by rostering Michael Crabtree. Crabtree score 20.8 points which was much higher than Brandon Lloyd (4.90). Lloyd was the only weak link in the lineup and he is really the player that cost him a chance of winning. WaiverWire had Shayne Graham going on Monday night, but he would have had to post 21.4 points to win. As close as he has been, he is still maintaining his bankroll which give him another swing this week.

This week SportsDraftDaily's tournament wasn't decided until early in the fourth quarter when Eric Decker caught a 7 yard touchdown pass from Peyton Manning. With that touchdown, Sasso moved ahead of Onice by 2.70 points. Onice rode a magical ride with Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson, and James Jones on Sunday night where they combined for 90.62 points which moved him into first place going into Monday night's game.

Realistically, there were four teams in contention going into the fourth quarter. Onice had a second team with Willis McGahee playing. McGahee needed a touchdown and about 11 yards of offense to retake the lead from Sasso. Unfortunately for him, Denver intercepted the ball and ran it in for a touchdown which stole a possible touchdown chance for McGahee. Denver also committed an offensive penalty which stalled a Denver drive with just under four minutes left in the game.

Meanwhile, Sinnerman was lingering in the background with Antonio Gates and the Chargers kicker Nick Novak left. The game was really setting up nicely for him in the fourth quarter once Denver took the lead. It forced San Diego to the air. With one field goal and a couple of catches by Gates, Sinnerman was in position for the victory. Rivers only completed one pass in the second half of the game to Gates which was a huge disappointment. Rivers' last four drives resulted in turnovers which was heartbreaking for anyone that owned Gates that was in a position to make some money in the daily games. It was also frustrating to see Ryan Mathews on the sidelines on the last two drives by the Chargers. He is a player that could have made a difference if he could've scored a late touchdown.

For Sasso, it wasn't an easy ride. I'm sure he thought his chance at victory had slipped away halfway through the second quarter when Eric Decker caught a 55 yard pass from Peyton Manning which looked like a sure touchdown. Decker tripped over his own feet at the 30 yard line which cost him a touchdown and 30 more receiving yards. It was basically a nine point swing. Fortunately for Sasso, Decker was able to push his way into the end zone early in the fourth quarter which gave Sasso the needed points to win this week's seat into the championship round in week 17 where the overall winner will have a chance to win $100,000 for a $10 entry fee.

Overall, it was a lower scoring week. The running back position underperformed other than Shone Greene (34.1) who was rostered by the winning team. A.J. Green (29.00) continues to be a difference maker. Antonio Gates (23.1) was the clear-cut edge at TE.

Sasso did really well in the fourth quarter of the one o'clock games on Sunday. Calvin Johnson was pretty much shut out by the Eagles going into the fourth quarter. A.J. Green scored a 57 yard touchdown with just over 5 minutes left in the Bengals/Browns game. The clincher was the third touchdown by Shonn Greene with 1:05 minutes left in the Jets game.

Onice took a few swings this week and I'm sure he wishes he used one more combination of the Green Bay players as he was dead on, but he couldn't get the secondary players to deliver enough points to put him over the top. He picks up $850 for finishing 2nd and 3rd which helps ease his pain.

Well, Ms. KateUpton, I don’t think VinceBarnes will ever be able to look at you straight in the eyes after this week’s tournament at SportsDraftDaily. Vince enter the Sunday night game trailing KateUpton by 18.42 points with Antonio Brown left. A score of 18+points is a huge number and one that certainly would required a TD. With 11:11 left in the 2nd quarter, Antonio Brown had his chance to deliver the key points for VinceBarnes to win. He took a pass from Ben Roethlisberger in the right flat behind the line of scrimmage. He circled back to the center of the field where he threw a pass on the move to Baron Batch.

The play was set up well and Antonio Brown threw a perfect pass with plenty of air under it to a wide-open Batch. I could sense the excitement from VinceBarnes as Batch lifted his arms to catch the ball near the goal line. At that moment, Batch seemed to be lost on what direction to turn as he reached up to catch the pass. As the ball harmlessly fell to the ground, KateUpton raised his arms in excitement as he knew he had just dodged a huge bullet. Brown finished with 109 total yards and 7 catches which gave him 14.4 fantasy points, but he fell 4.2 points short of the target number needed for VinceBarnes to win.

KateUpton had a well-balanced team. He had the two highest scoring players on the week (Chris Johnson – 32.3) and Vincent Jackson (31.1) plus he hit on almost every other roster slot on his team. The only exception was Fred Davis who was injured early in the game. Here is the roster of the winning team:

HighRidgeHoosiers finished in 3rd place with 150.90 points. His team was still in contention going into the Sunday night game. He had Jonathan Dwyer left, but he needed 19.50 points from him. Just like Brown, HighRidge’s only chance probably hinged on TD. Chris Rainey scored the only rushing TD for Pitt early in the 4th quarter. Dwyer was having a decent game, but he was never in position to deliver a winning score. He broke a 32 YD run (tackled at the 8 yard line) with 1:20 left in the game, but a TD would have left him a half point short of victory. HighRidge was somewhat screwed by the non TD pass by Mike Williams with no time left on the clock in the Tampa game. There should have been a pass interference penalty which would’ve given the Buccaneers one play to tie the game at the goal line with no time left on the clock.

The update for week 8 in SportsDraftDaily’s $200,000 Championship was delayed due to the Hurricane on the east coast. I’m at the mercy of an update myself as I cannot see the results because I don’t play in the game. I only lost power for about 4 hours, but my internet was down for about a day. Last week in the daily games I hit a couple in the fairway, but overall I didn’t get enough right to have success.

As I mentioned last week winning in the daily games, many times success is about rhythm. The one player that has found his rhythm late in October is Smokin_Gun. He dusted the field in SportsDraftDaily’s week 7 Free Roll. He followed up that strong performance with a great showing in SportsDraftDaily’s $200,000 Championship in week 8. Not only did Smokin_Gun win the week, he also had the 2nd and I believe 5th place team. I can’t say for sure as I don’t have the previous week’s entries, but he basically turned a free ticket in the Free Roll into a chance to win $100,000 in week 17 of the football season plus he has funded a bankroll where he may be able to win another seat if he can continue his hot run.

Smokin_Gun was pretty much locked and loaded with Matt Forte (17.90), Willis McGahee (22.50), and Jason Witten (25.70). He built his core around those three players. I know many were disappointed not to see Ryan Broyles in the player pool last week. With Nate Burleson getting hurt in last Monday night’s game, it created an opportunity for Broyles. Unfortunately I didn’t have a good enough update and I didn’t add Broyles into the pool by the midnight cut off time for this week’s game. Broyles would not have been a layup as his salary would have come in just below Burleson salary as I viewed him as the player taking his job.

Stonewashed Jackson caught a tough break when Josh Copper posted a zero. He was trying to become SportsDraftDaily’s first 2 time seat winner. Stonewashed Jackson won our week 4 tournament. Week 9 in the NFL was extremely frustrating for me as a daily player. After spending hours and hours looking at players and matchups, I headed to the ticket window to submit my teams. Within about an hour, I knew my chances were pretty much cooked everywhere. I had Arian Foster on just about every team with my new found upside back Pierre Thomas. At the beginning of the week, I submitted some teams with Mikel Leshoure and Arian Foster, but I really thought Thomas would have a better opportunity in the Saints offense with Darren Sproles out with a hand injury. No matter what decisions I made, I had no chance of winning without having Doug Martin or Brandon Marshall on my team. Early in the season I had Martin in multiple spots, but he failed to deliver. Marshall had a great matchup, but it looked like the game score would minimize his upside. For some reason, the Bears continued attacking by throwing the ball to Marshall which allowed him to deliver the highest score at WR this week.

I have a tendency in my fantasy career to push all in. It works extremely well if I'm right, but it really kills my chances of winning if I'm wrong. I own Martin on I think 8 of my 16 season-long teams so I wasn't disappointed to see him have success. I just wish I had the smarts to use him on a couple of tickets in the daily space. I could never have expected him to have three long runs and deliver such a huge score.

Much to my surprise, this week's winner in the SportsDraftDaily's $200,000 Championship did not have Doug Martin on his team. In essence, Martin's score was like owning 2 or 3 players in one. His salary was $9100 which was less than the star studded Arian Foster ($9800). After Martin's great game, his salary for this week's matches would have shot up to $11700. It was adjusted back to offset his outlier score.

This week's winner in the $200,000 championship was on the seat of his pants late in the Monday night game, as a hard charging VictoryLap was one play away from stealing the seat from MovetheChains. VictoryLap had LeSean McCoy playing and he was trailing MovetheChains by 1.1 points late in the game. With 3:53 left in the game, Vick threw a pass to McCoy inside the 5 yard line. With a completion and one yard after the catch, VictoryLap would have won the seat. The usually sure handed McCoy drop the slightly off target pass from Vick. Three play later, a Celek fumble gave the ball back to the Saints and it looked like Philly might not get the ball back.

The Eagles defense force a three and out which gave VictoryLap one last gasp chance at stealing the win. Philly ran 7 plays and not one included McCoy. It left VictoryLap wondering what he had to do to catch a break and I'm sure his mind was racing about what could have been. I imagine sleeping was a tough option as his adrenaline must have had him jacked up after the game.

On the other side of the fence, MovetheChains was in a cold sweat as he watched the Eagles drive that started with 8:45 left in the game. McCoy had 2 rushes for no gain plus one rush for 7 yards and one catch for 14 yards. I'm sure the last 6 minutes were pure hell as his dream was one play away from turning into a nightmare. In the end, MovetheChains had just enough to win plus he had a duplicate team which came in 2nd. So for the 2nd week in a row, the same owner won 1st and 2nd place. Here's the winning roster:

Fantasy football can be pure agony when you are competing in head to head matches or games with an overall prize. BTeudt was at the 1 YD line at the start of the second half of the Pittsburgh/Kansas City game in SportsDraftDaily's $200,000 Championship. He was trailing Mac_Papi by 1.3 points with his kicker Ryan Succop left. The Chiefs were in field goal range with 9 minutes left in the 3rd quarter when Matt Cassel threw a 12 yard TD to Dwayne Bowe. With an extra point the lead would be cut to 0.30 points.....but wait there is a flag on the play which was a win for BTeudt.

When you are in position to win, you need to get the points when you can as you never know if you'll have another chance at scoring points. Kansas City ran a couple of plays that led to a 33 yard field goal attempt which would have delivered a seat in the championship round. Ryan SUCKUP misses wide right and BTeudt dropped to his knees. Mac_Papi was slapping high fives as he just dodged a huge bullet and his chance of winning increased dramatically. A couple of plays later it appeared Leftwich fumbled the ball which led to a Kansas City TD, but the fumble was ruled an incomplete pass which gave the ball back to Pittsburgh.

Kansas City went three and out on four consecutive drives as the ball was starting to drop on BTeudt's chances.

With Pittsburgh up by three points with the ball with four full minutes left in the game, it wasn't looking good for the Chiefs and Ryan Succop. After a 1st down by the Steelers, Kansas City was able to stop Pittsburgh a football short of a first down even with a favorable spot.

Mac_Papi was now starting to feel the pressure as he knew there was a chance he could lose. With 2 catches by Tony Moeaki that moved the ball to midfield with 1.24 left in the game, the heartbeats of the two contenders were starting to rise. After an incomplete pass, a 5 yard gain, 10 yard penalty against the Chiefs, and another incomplete pass, the deciding moment of the game had arrived. Matt Cassel had one chance to become a hero to BTeudt forever.

On 4th and 15 with 28 seconds left in the game, Cassel delivered a strike to Dwayne Bowe who actually hung onto the ball for a 27 yard gain. BTeudt rose from the dead and he was back in the game. All he wanted was one more chance to win. I'm sure there wasn't a lot of faith in Succop when he lineup for a 46 yard fantasy game winning field goal, but he was able to hit a low line drive that was just inside the right upright which delivered the win and a chance to win $100,000 in week 17 of the football season.

BTeudt used one star player (Ray Rice - 14.80) who underperformed. The rest of his lineup deliver double-digit points with the exception of his kicker. Greg Olsen (26.70) was his MVP. Here's this week's winning team:

Third place finisher Rog11sm was hoping for the steal in overtime. He had Mike Wallace left and he was trailing by 7.5 points. He needed a broken play TD to steal this week's title, but a poor pass by Matt Cassel early in overtime ruined any dream of winning. His big edge was pairing Olsen and Gonzalez. Rog11sm is a newcomer to the high stakes market in the past couple of years, but he is proving to be a threat in baseball and football.

Congrats to NFBC player Joe Anthony (VinceBarnes) for winning the week 11 seat

When I look at the final results of this week’s tournament in SportsDraftDaily’s $200,000 Championship, I just think what it could have been for me. I was all over Foster in most on my games which kept me away from Matt Schaub. I knew Andre Johnson was coming on and he was going to score sooner or later.

Last week I wrote this comment about Andre Johnson:

Johnson delivered a short performance against the Bears which was expected/It wasn’t helped out by poor weather conditions/He has 41 targets in his last 4 games/Johnson hasn’t scored a TD in 6 weeks and I feel like betting this pony until he comes in/The Jaguar’s CB’s have only allowed 4 TD passes on the season/He has scored 3 TD’s in his career against Jacksonville/Solid option

If I play Johnson, he is a natural tie to Matt Schaub who was fairly priced. Instead I’m left standing on the sidelines on what it could have been. I fell a TD and 2 yards short of making a big score. Foster had multiple chances at the goal line, but he just couldn’t get it across the goal line.

The wise guys in this week’s SportsDraftDaily tournament used the Schaub/Johnson combination which delivered 77.38 points. They were both the best players at their positions and they posted scores to separate them from the pack. Each of the top finishing teams used these players plus they used Marcel Reese who posted a solid score of 21.30.

VinceBarnes won this week with a score of 157.68. He beat OceanDude by 1.9 points which was ultimately decided by the kicker (Folk - 13 – Dawson – 10). Vince went for the layup (A.J. Green) who had scored in 8 straight games. He did what he does best and scored again to post a solid 18.1 points. OceanDude went with the chalk play of Doug Martin who was a robbed of a TD late in the game. To me, he clearly fumbled the ball after he crossed the goal line. That TD would have given OceanDude the win this week and I’m sure it was a tense booth review for VinceBarnes. In the end, Martin matched Green’s 18.1 points.

The loss of the TD by Martin ended up helping OceanDude as Dallas Clark (15.30) scored the winning TD in overtime, but it wasn’t enough to catch the top team.

Overall VinceBarnes didn’t do anything special with the rest of his roster. He had his edge by his front 4 players and his kicker had a solid game.

It was a great win for Mr. VinceBarnes who was denied at the goal line in week 7 when he has Antonio Brown left to play. Brown threw a TD pass in the game that would have won the week for him, but it was called back due to a penalty. He finished in 2nd that week, but it is just heart breaking when you are so close to a chance at $100,000. Vince is a smart man and he is a top high stakes fantasy baseball player. His goal is to win $100,000 in the NFBC each season. With his win, he’s hoping he can build his bankroll so he can continue his excellent fantasy career. If he takes home the overall prize, he may even buy his brother a team in the NFBC main event this season.

OceanDude really got screwed by Ken Whisenhunt. He hooked John Skelton after he was 2 for 7 for 6 yards. I still can’t understand it as the Cardinals were in the game and he clearly gave them the best chance of winning. Top_Russian looked like he was in the drive seat heading into the 4 o’clock games. He only needed 6.8 points from Denarius Moore. The game even set up perfectly for him as the Saints jumped out to a big lead. Moore only caught 1 of 7 targets for 9 yards as Vince cheered every time he dropped the ball.

For the week, we had 788 teams which was slightly more than last week. This week we will have our 3rd $100 quarter pole tournament. It gives fantasy players a chance to win a seat into the championship round at a higher price point, but it is against a much smaller field.

We also made some adjustment to the player’s salaries to help you put in a better quality lineup. Our salaries have been creeping up as the season has gone up which has forced fantasy players to make tougher decision each Sunday. Hopefully you have more quality players in your lineup this week.

Back to back seats won by NFBC players, Richard Kulaski won the week 12 seat at SportsDraftDaily...nice job RKulaski and good luck in the finals.

After Sunday’s games, it appeared the top teams would stay intact with a banged up Philly offense and the underperforming Cam Newton playing in Monday night game. On Sunday there really were only a couple difference scores. The top four scoring QB’s for the week all played on Thursday (Brady, Griffin, Romo, and Stafford). The top three scores for WR came from the Thanksgiving Day games (Dez Bryant, Andre Johnson, and Calvin Johnson). With so much top talent off the board, it led to a low scoring week. With scoring down, the teams with players left on Monday night had a chance to win if they could get a couple of plus games by their players.

Bryce Brown and Cam Newton were the stories of the week. Newton had his best game of the year and he posted the highest score at QB (37.44) on the week. Brown also posted the highest score at RB (32.90).

For the second consecutive week, a top player from the NFBC/NFFC won the seat into SportsDraftDaily’s $200,000 Championship round. RKulaski had sweat out the last half of the 4th quarter of the Philly/Carolina game. IMAgreatwhite was in second place with Can Newton on his team (both teams had Bryce Brown). The final score was 142.46 – 140.64.

The Panthers held the ball for almost the last 8:35 minutes of the game. When Cam Newton scored his 2nd rushing TD (4th overall TD) with 4:40 left in the game, RKulaski had to think his chance of winning was at risk. I’m sure his heart dropped when Graham Gano missed the extra point as it brought in the chance of overtime if Philly could score a TD and score a 2 point conversion.

On the kickoff after Newton’s TD, the Eagles fumbled the ball which gave the ball back to Carolina. IMAgreatwhite jumped from his seat as he had a chance to steal this week’s tournament. Meanwhile RKulaski threw the remote and he began pacing the room. IMAgreatwhite was within 2.70 points of the lead with 4:31 left in the game.

With one broken pass play or a long Newton run, IMAgreatwhite could win. After two short completions and four the DeAngelo Williams runs, the deciding moment of the game came. It was 3rd and 6 at the Eagles 27 yards line. Newton dropped back to pass and he hit Mike Tolbert for an 11 yards gain which sealed the game for Carolina and it gave RKulaski a chance to win $100,000 in SportsDraftDaily’s $200,000 Championship round.

RKulaski has a couple of top 10 overall finishes in the NFBC events. He has been knocking on the door for a big prize and he’ll have one more chance in week 17 of the NFL season. Here’s his winning team:

Week 13 was championship week in the high stakes fantasy baseball market. It is a week where league championships and league championship fields are decided. This week’s winner in SportsDraftDaily’s $200,000 tournament was Quahogs. He destroyed the field of 850+ teams with the highest score of the year (177.48 points). He also won a seat into the championship round in week 5 so he is the first player to earn to tickets to the $100,000 overall prize.

Quahogs is one of the top high stakes players in fantasy baseball and fantasy football. He is the #1 lifetime player in the National Fantasy Baseball Championship with $203,900 in career winnings and he won the NFBC overall title in 2010. Football is his second sport that gets him through the baseball off season. He has $55,200 in winnings in the NFFC plus he won over $47,000 in the FFPC playoff football tournament last year.

As I mention it was championship week in the high stake markets, Quahogs looked himself into about $19,500 in winnings this week in the high stakes season long games plus he finished as the #1 seed overall in the NFFC Primetime event where the winning team has a chance to win $150,000 over the next 3 weeks. Quahogs was so busy making lineup decisions in the season long games that he only had time to throw two Hail Mary picks in the SportsDraftDaily event. He nailed six of eight picks which led to his complete domination of the field. He took the layup at RB (Bryce Brown – 32.30) and he paired him with Adrian Peterson (28.50). He went with a Peyton/Thomas hookup plus Calvin Johnson (29.60). He had the top kicker on the week Jason Hanson (18.00) plus he hit on a low priced TE Martellus Bennett (16.70). Quahogs is the 3rd consecutive winner from the high stakes NFBC/NFFC market. The second place team TrentSteele is also a crossover player from the high stakes season long games. He finished 2nd this week with a score of 159.64. Every one of his players scored double digit points except Reggie Wayne (7.1). He had an edge at QB (Andrew Luck – 28.94) and his flex player (Trent Richardson – 17.00). He matched Quahogs with Peterson and Brown, but his WR productions couldn’t match the 1st place team. Last summer TrentSteele qualified for a championship round in daily baseball where he had a chance to win $100,000.

He had Peterson and Brown as well plus he hit on the great game by Brandon Myers (26.00). Unfortunately A.J. Green (13.00) couldn’t match Calvin Johnson last week.

Over the past two weeks, there have been some players putting up some great games. Can Newton has strung together 3 straight great games moving him to 3rd overall at the QB position. Adrian Peterson has been a beast for over the last 7 weeks. Both players’ success has pushed their salary to the top at their positions and in most weeks their scores would give you an edge to win SportsDraftDaily’s $200,000 Tournament. Unfortunately two players have got it “right” in the last two weeks which has allowed them to post plus scores. This week’s winner PLaurell (171.46) hit on every roster slot which gave him the 2nd highest winning score on the year.

Heading into Monday night game, PLaurell was in 8th place with Aaron Hernandez left. All of the top 7 teams had no players left. PLaurell was trailing 1st place by 14.22 points. In a tournament only giving a half per reception, a score over 14 probably meant probably Hernandez needed to score a TD. When Hernandez scored a 7 yard TD with 9:27 left in the first quarter, second place team Hotlanta wasn’t feeling good about his chances. For PLaurell, it was a perfect start to the game and the tough part of the equation was out of the way. Two minute into the 2nd quarter, Hernandez had 4 catches for 29 yards and 1 TD. Big Mo (Momentum) was on the side of PLaurell this week and it only took Hernandez two more minutes to score the deciding points.

With just over 11 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, Hernandez was left uncovered at the line scrimmage as the Texans were late coming out of the huddle. A quick snap by Brady and a completion to Hernandez for a 4 yard TD delivered the winning points for the week. The only fear for PLaurell was the wave of teams that owned Brady and possibly some of the Houston Texans as this game was set up to be wide open over the last two and half quarters. Kamakazi was able to work his way to 3rd overall with Brady, but Danny Woodhead’s fumble cost Brady a chance at his 5th TD which would have made the last 14 minutes of the game very interesting.

After Lloyd scored on the fumble recovery, the Texans came out and ran the ball three times which told Belichick that they were conceding the game. Both teams insert the backup QB in the 2nd half of the 4th quarter which sealed the victory for PLaurell.

PLaurell had success with two players that have been dogs over the last few weeks (Manning and Wallace). Wallace was the backend WR that delivered the difference maker score. This team had 15 TD’s this week. Pierre Garcon was a value at $6300 this week. Aaron Hernandez had a TD edge over the field at TE.

Hotlanta went with a Carolina stack, but he needed another TD plus a few more yards. He lost this week because Wallace outscored Smith by 12.30 points which was the result of Wallace’s 2nd TD with 6 minutes left in the game (7.6 points on that play).

Kamakazi was on the right track this week as he also owned Cruz, Hernandez, and Wallace. He went bottom tier at one of his RB spots, but it was the combination for Martin and Wayne which left him short of the finish line. Without having Lynch, he had a tough overcoming his weakness at the RB position. Week 14 was one of the highest scoring weeks at the RB position.

This week we had 1002 entries in SportsDraftDaily’s $200,000 Championship which is the highest total of the season. There are two more weeks to qualify for the championship round. In week 16, we will have our last $100 Quarter Pole tournament so there are 3 open seats left. Week 15 was a lower scoring week in SportsDraftDaily’s $200,000 Championship. Obummer outdueled Obummer 146.66 – 136.08. Obummer was keying off of three players – Beanie Wells (24.70), Julio Jones (24.20), and Michael Crabtree (26.20). He used these three players plus a top player from RB and WR. The better team had Adrian Peterson (27.20). His second place team had Calvin Jonson (17.10). His only mistake of the week was choosing his kicker – Greg Zuerlein (2.00) and Ryan Succop (0.00).

Heading into the Sunday night game, Optimus had a 14.14 point lead over Obummer with Michael Crabtree left. At the time, Optimus was in 1st place and 2nd place. At half time, Optimus was feeling ok about his chances. Crabtree had 3 catches for 32 yards (4.70 points). As long as the Patriots kept Crabtree out of the End Zone, Optimus has a very good chance of winning. With the 49ers having a big lead, there should have been a lot of running the ball a lot in the 2nd half of the game by San Fran. The Patriots turned the ball over on back to back possessions and the 2nd turnover was deadly for Optimus as Kaepernick hit Crabtree for a 27 yard TD pass on the 1st play (9.20 point play) which gave Obummer the lead and the victory.

Crabtree was a great play by Obummer and he finished with 7 catches for 107 yards and 2 TD’s. Obummer’s finish was set up by a late 31 yard TD run by Beanie Wells. Wells was the backend difference maker at RB as he scored 3 TD’s.

Optimus had a great combo of Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch as he won every time the Seahawks scored a TD. He also made a great call by playing Eric Decker. His big mistake happened at TE. He played Jared Cook who last injured the previous week and he was placed on the IR before this week’s game. I’m not sure of the options below Cook so his whole team could have been different if he changed to a different TE.

Our entries took a step back in week 15 as we had about 660 teams in this week’s tournament. Week 16 will be the last chance to qualify for SportsDraftDaily’s $200,000 Championship. We will have the $10 tournament plus we will be running our 4th $100 Quarter Pole tournament. I expect the $100 tournament to sell out early so don’t wait until Sunday to enter.
