A Message For New NFBC Hopefuls

Most of us have drafted 100's of times. We've drafted in local leagues, we've drafted in 'live' events like here with the NFBC, and we've drafted online.
Online seems to be the most impersonal. If on Yahoo, CBS, or ESPN, we most likely didn't 'know' one person we were competing against.
If you're new here, let me have your ear.
The NFBC has something none of these sites can offer.
A feeling of family.
Even in online drafts, we will be familiar with some of the Managers or team names.
It's cool.
It gives an air to being in a local league, without being in a local league.
15 Of us just completed a draft that I will long remember.
This draft included a player who had a daughter in need of two brain surgeries.
A devastating hurricane.
A player who lost power to his home for two weeks.
A player who left a ravaged home and went to another to draft.
A player running marathons, a goal of a marathon in each U.S. state, while having a hand with the military.
A player whose wife tore her achilles tendon and helped give her a hand, while keeping an eye on his computer.
And not one player griped.
Not a zzzzzzz post.
Not a
Just a whole lot of understanding and patience.
We finished this 50 round draft in 36 days despite the problems.
Some times more than 24 hours passed while a father feared for the survival of his child.
He received prayers from these drafters.
Not reminders.
I'll long forget the winner of this draft, but I'll remember forever the 15 who participated.
Good, good men who I can't wait to meet in Las Vegas.
This is something we can't get at Yahoo, ESPN, or CBS.
The NFBC has something those sites will never have.
A close-knitness.
That family atmosphere.
A place where we can throw insults, and receive them like they were from a friend.
You can't get that at Yahoo or ESPN or CBS.
Only here.
Now, I know that I'm probably coming across like a commercial.
I don't care.
It's from the heart.
Drafting here, among the best players and people across the U.S. is a wonderful experience.
Greg should be proud.
And you, you should become a part of it.
Remember this post when you're having Thanksgiving with your family and then decide where to spend your fantasy dollars.
This is the place to be.
