MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports that the Yankees have offered Kevin Youkilis a one-year, $12 million contract. Does Youk get out of the fantasy dog house if he lands with the Yankees?

I don't fault the players for this, but when you see players go from the Red Sox to the Yankees or vice versa you realize that this is all about the money. As Seinfeld said, we're all just cheering for laundry!! The players have no deep feelings for the franchises they play for. They are just like WWE wrestlers, faking it for the cameras. They play hard, play for the money and when their careers are done they retire with millions in the bank.

The fact that the Yankees have signed Wade Boggs, Roger Clemens, Johnny Damon and now Youkilis after those players LOATHED the Yankees is hilarious. I think you see this more in baseball than football. When Brett Favre signed with the Vikings it was BLASPHEMY around Wisconsin and some Packer fans will never forgive him for that. Sure, we signed Jim McMahon and Steve McMichael after they played with the hated Bears, but they were at the end of their careers and in McMahon's case he just held a clipboard for Favre. Signing a former Bears' great or Vikings' great just doesn't happen with a big NFL rival like the Packers.

But it sure happens enough in baseball. Go to the Yankees Youk and don't think twice about wearing the pinstripes. Nobody has any loyalty to their original franchises anymore. Fans started seeing this in the early 1980s and that's what propelled the popularity of fantasy baseball. If players weren't going to be loyal to their fans, the fans were going to split their loyalties as well. Some fantasy owners still have trouble drafting players from their hated rivals, but if it comes down to winning a championship or not they'll cheer for the other "piece of laundry!!" And why not? The players are changing loyalties all the time.

I'd be more worried about his allergies than his allegiance.
