He went in the 4th round of a mock draft I was in last night, and some of the other owners were falling over themselves because he went so early...

I too love howard for this year, but this monster spring has killed his little sleeper value. Two weeks ago you couid have gotten him in rd 5 or 6, now if you really want him , you will have to spend a 3rd round pick.Still he could be better than delgado , sexson or dunn. Especially in BAVG.

I, too, drafted Howard in the 5th. Felt like a major steal to me. Could put up first round numbers.

I went to a D-Rays v Phillies spring training game and Howard was blasting the ball. He looked very good. Just hope he can be consistent the whole season.

I just got back from Blue Jays/Phillies in Clearwater. Watched Howard carefully and liked the fact that he showed a good eye and some plate patience (he walked twice). But he does seem particularly vulnerable to slow stuff on the outside corner; he went fishing and missed on at least five swings, and in fact struck out in his last AB.

I don't think I'd have the guts to use a 3rd or 4th rounder on a guy with just a half season in the Bigs.

I can see it both ways. This guy may have me fooled but he looks like a lock for 40 hr...In the 5th that seems like a great shot.

I selected Ryan Howard with the 10th pick in round 3. Perhaps this was too early, but I felt he offered me the best power potential without killing my batting average (hint - Adam Dunn was still on the board). I had taken Juan Pierre in the second round to get my speed guy and felt it was imperative to get the best power bat available at the time. Would he have still been on the board when I picked next? Maybe, but I didn't feel it was worth chancing.
