Anyone else get him at 13 or lower?

Well, yes. From the 10th spot, we landed D. Lee in the first round and then Johan with the 21st overall pick! This was Chicago #2. Crazy draft with all viable closers going way too early.

5. M. Ensberg

6. H. Blalock

7. V. Wells

9. B. Fuentes

10. C. Orvella

11. J. Gathright

12. R. Hernandez

13. B. Penny

14. M. Ellis

15. M. Jacobs

16. W. Pena

17. L. Hernandez

18. M. Timlin

19. J. Hardy

20. M. Morris

21. K. Lofton

22. E. Reed

23. J. Washburn

24. J. Rivera

25. D. Wells

In Chi 2 Santana went to team 10 in the 2nd round! 21st Overall.

How far did Bonds drop in your league? I got him in round 10, #143 overall

www.ourfieldofdreams.us I was shocked you guys got him at 13, but you can imagine my surprise when I saw him go 21st overall  I know people go with that anit-pitching strategy, but his play is to hard to pass up IMO.

BTW, Dave, want to know who you guys got in the Ultimate....

I'm amazed that Santana was still on the board for the 21st pick in one of these leagues. I had the 10th pick in my leagye and was fully prepared to take him if he was still unexpectedly available. Santana went a pick or two before me. ... As for Barry Bonds, he went in the 5th round in NY#2, a bit earlier than I'd have guessed.

My one hard and fast rule is no pitcher in the first round.I was ready to break this rule and take Santana with the eighth pick of the first round if my first six choices were gone.Santana went number 7.I took Manny Ramirez with the eight pick.I had him ranked number eight(no first round breaks for me).

Johan went pick # 20 in NY 7, right after Dave Ortiz at 19.

I'm not a big believer in pitching with the 1st pick either, but, if I had a hitter round one, and Johan was STILL on the board, no way he gets by me. Pick 20? that's amazing.

Good luck in the Ultimate Dave. Im one of those non believers when it comes to picking pitching early. I picked 8th in the Ultimate. I was pretty happy to get my ace Harden in the 5th round after I spent my first four picks on monster offense with D. Wright, Tejada, Ryan Howard and Mauer. Not that I wouldnt rather have Santana over Harden, but to get him in the 5th makes it worth passing on Santana, in my humble opinion.
