Fantasy Sports Insurance Top 100 Player List
Anyone who is paying for their Classic, NFBC XII or Auction league via check or money order is eligible to receive FREE insurance on one player. If that player meets the criteria assigned by Fantasy Sports Insurance of missing 60 games in 2013 and you have insurance on that player, you will receive 20% of your entry fee for that team back as damage. Several NFBC owners unfortunately cashed on that policy last year.
We will try to set this up on your team page and you don't have to select a player until after your draft. We hope to get all players in before Opening Day, but we'll do our best to get the word out right after Draft Day how you do this. Last year I was inundated with 200+ emails and we weren't as efficient as we'd like. We'll create a link this year that helps you post that player's name online, hopefully.
Anyway, see the player list below if you are getting insurance this year:

The money making play of having Tulo carry your fantasy team or being good for a $250 rebate have disappeared.

I guess you know a guy is injury prone when he is ineligible for the free fantasy insurance.

Utley was insurable and was slated to miss the beginning of the season. On average he was picked after the 20th round and later in other events and paid off.Bronx Yankees wrote:I guess you know a guy is injury prone when he is ineligible for the free fantasy insurance.

Re: Fantasy Sports Insurance Top 100 Player List
So, basically, Utley already was hurt last year, was going to miss at least the beginning of the season, and he still was more insurable than a "healthy" Tulo is this year?Money wrote:Utley was insurable and was slated to miss the beginning of the season. I'm sorry, I'm not criticizing the fantasy insurance and I think this is a great benefit provided by the NFBC, but for some reason I find the uninsurability of Tulo funny. He was my first pick on one of my draft championship teams last year and I finished either second or third in that league. Can't help but think I would've won that one with a healthy Tulo. Not coincidentally, he is not on any of my teams this year. (Which probably guarantees he'll get 600 ABs this year!)

Re: Fantasy Sports Insurance Top 100 Player List
I've cashed on Ellsbury twice and Utley once...not exactly a great track record to say I'm approaching the 4 figure mark in player insurance payouts.
People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

My guess is that Tulo was an accidental oversight. I am sure Greg will confirm this.

Maybe, but out of curiosity I counted and there currently are 100 players listed (assuming I can count accurately). Tulo just might be too big a risk to insure.Ando wrote:My guess is that Tulo was an accidental oversight. I am sure Greg will confirm this.

You would think that if Ellsbury is on the list, then Tulo would be on the list. Similar injury problems.. both have been risky. I believe Ellsbury has missed more games than Tulo.
Re: Fantasy Sports Insurance Top 100 Player List
I think the general consensus here is that you need to insure one of your most valuable players, that who injured would derail your season.
I think you insure the player most likely to get hurt. I won leagues and cashed in on Berkman and Utley. I'm not saying you look for a guy to cash in on, you simply do not insure Cabrera or Braun when their history is such that they play all year. You insure the guy who is insurable and most likely to miss time. I hope that makes sense.

Re: Fantasy Sports Insurance Top 100 Player List
I don't make this list up, the insurance company does. If they think Tulo resides in a flood area, who am I to argue with them. All I know is that he cost FSI a lot of money last year, so I don't blame them for not putting him back on there. If he's not on, then he's not insurable this year.Ando wrote:My guess is that Tulo was an accidental oversight. I am sure Greg will confirm this.

Re: Fantasy Sports Insurance Top 100 Player List
Well I guess that Mark Teixeira should be a shoo-in to collect this year. He's not due back until mid-May,nearly 6 weeks into the season and wrist injuries for a power hitter could easily send him back to the DL for at lease one more trip. That would be nearly 60 days right there.

Re: Fantasy Sports Insurance Top 100 Player List
Just a heads up on insurance: Mark Teixeira will NOT be included in the Top 100 now that he has suffered his wrist injury. He will be replaced shortly by another player. More details soon. Plan accordingly.

Re: Fantasy Sports Insurance Top 100 Player List
Just another heads up involving the free insurance this year: Players do not collect on suspensions, just injuries. We had a few folks ask about a 50-game suspension being covered and that's not the case here. It's for injuries, so plan accordingly when picking your players for this.
We'll also give you details on how we're going to handle the insurance this year. With any luck, we'll have it automated in some way. Thanks all and good luck in drafts.

Re: Fantasy Sports Insurance Top 100 Player List
We were hoping to set this up on your team pages instead of going via email, but I think we'll have to do it the old fashioned way.Nevadaman wrote:No mention of insurance lately. Will you be addressing this soon?
Just send an email with your leagues and the player you want insured to [email protected] by the end of the week. We'll set your insurance that way and you have a few days to give me your players as long as none of them get hurt before you send me the list.
We give free insurance for anyone who paid via check or money order in:
NFBC Main Event
NFBC XII
NFBC Auction Championship
thanks all and good luck. Now let the emails explode to me!!

I just finalized the list with Fantasy Sports Insurance and the three players who have come off the list since we first posted this are:Wolfpac wrote:is hanley still on the list?
Mark Teixeira
Chase Headley
Hanley Ramirez
Anyone who submitted a pick with any of these three players must re-submit their insured player. Thanks all.
Remember, send an email to me at [email protected] or to Tom at [email protected] by Friday at the latest. We'll send the list to Fantasy Sports Insurance on Monday. Thanks and good luck all.
