NFBC Draft the Drafter's League

by KJ Duke
After a few drinks following last night's Greg and Tom radio show, Jon Stadtmueller threw out an awesome concept of a draft that drafts NFBC drafters. He encouraged me to put something together - I couldn't pass that up! :mrgreen: So in this draft, forget about your favorite baseball players, who are your favorite "fantasy baseball" players? Trout vs Cabrera vs Braun ... how about Jupinka versus Childs versus Doughboy? :P Here is what I am proposing ...

League Structure
* 15 team league, 4 round draft
* Message board slow draft beginning Monday, April 1
* $100 entry; winner-take-all funds a 2014 main event league

Rules
(1) The draft will consist of 4 snake rounds. Draft order will be determined by KDS.
(2) Any team competing in the main event (that was not previously selected) is eligible to be drafted. However, to avoid any conflict of interest you cannot draft a team in any league in which you own or co-manage a team, including your own team. Someone else can, however, draft your team or teams.
(3) For drafter's with multiple teams, you must select one specific league for any draft pick. You can, however, select another team owned by that drafter in another round, if available.
(4) Two-category rotissieie league - the top ranked team in each category will receive 15 points, the next team 14 points, and so on down to 1 point for the lowest ranked team. The two categories are: (1) Most main event points for your best drafter's team; (2) Total main event points for all of your drafter's teams.
(5) In the event of a points tie, the league participant who's own main event team finishes highest wins. For example, if Jon ties Shawn in the standings and Jon's personal main event team finishes ahead of Shawn's personal team, Jon would win the league. For participants with more than one personal team, you must designate one team to be used as your tiebreaker team at the end of the draft.

Here's your completely unofficial ADP ... http://nfbcplayer.blogspot.com/

OK, 5 spots filled, 10 to go. I'm thinking, who could we get as a spokesperson for the double-D league?

KJ, I'll take a spot. Can you clarify #2 for me ? I guess I'm a bit daft
" Total main event points for all of your drafter's teams. "

So Ideally you need to be looking for players who have THREE teams in the ME ?

Ok Steve, on your question ... no. You get only one team per pick regardless of how many teams that drafter has (so if you pick Childs, you have to spectify which draft). Category #2 is the total points of all four of your selections, whereas category #1 looks at only your highest-scoring selection.

Ok so I'm drafting 4 teams total. Got it. I guess my problem is I go to read the rules and I get distracted by the spokeswoman...

Too much on my plate already, and besides, I'd want to draft all of my teams this year. :mrgreen: :lol: If I were the guys in this league, I would take a serious look at my teams as late round sleeper picks! :mrgreen:

Jeff Erickson jumped in at the draft today. Maybe we'll get a Sirius mention. :)

Probably could've filled it if I didn't have to rush home after the main today, but 4 spots available.

Is everyone going to have access to all 435 rosters or are we just drafting on reputation and blind faith?

Should be able to see all rosters by clicking team on standings page.

As much as I think it would be a blast, there's no way I would be able to find the time to scan through all the leagues in order to have a chance to be competitive in this league. I would have rolled the dice in a "rep only" type format.

Good luck with this league. I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun for those who take part.

Next year, if you run one before the drafts take place, count me in Bud. Thanks.

I gave it a mention in my review of the draft:

If you don't already have access to the site, just let me know - I can give you a free trial.

Fun but difficult draft Saturday. Good luck all.

Glenn, even if someone was willing to scan and evaulate hundreds of rosters, would they be able to predict the season's top teams in week 1? It's a roll of the dice for fun with a potential slight edge for knowing the track record of those involved along with a cursory glance at their rosters.

Down to three spots available, if we don't get there we'll just roll with however many teams we have.
