What players are you most invested in?
Last year I started a thread asking what players are each of us most invested in? With the draft season now complete and the regular season underway, I'll list all players that I have on 5 or more teams. As usual, most of the common players on my team will be low cost speculations usually found in the teen rounds or end game.
Phil Hughes (8) - He showed real signs of a potential breakout last season, his cost before his neck injury was far greater than it was by the time the live drafts came around. He'll be ready for his start on the 11th. At a price that had dropped well into the 20 rounds, I grabbed him often.
Ian Desmond (6) - One of the few early round players on this list. I love the power/speed breakout last year and believe he is a scarce position option that is trending upwards on a team that is trending upwards. Even as an early round pick, he could return a profit this season.
Chris Davis (6) - Most of the other breakouts from last season have been taken much earlier than Davis in our drafts. 1B is deep and I've waited often at the postion or at CI. When I've been ready to grab a player at that spot, his power potential has often been seen as something my teams could use an infusion of in the 8th-10th rounds.
Cory Hart (6) - Will miss a month, but his price continued to drop during the draft season to the point where it felt like I was getting him for a steal. An experienced Power/Average bat, I grabbed him where I could due to the heavy injury discount.
Peter Bourjos (6) - I've speculated on this potential power/speed option breaking out the last couple years. I like him even more this year with Vernon Wells finally sent packing.
Justin Maxwell (6) - I'm a sucker for power/speed options that go in the 20's rounds, even if they come with some serious BA risk.
Chad Billingsley (6) - The arm may blow out at any time, but he was showing real growth last season before the arm troubles developed. Like Bedard in years past, I've spent several 20th to reserve round picks on him hoping to get what I can out of him and if the arm goes, at least the cost was right.
Brett Myers (6) - Every time he's had the chance to start over the past several years, he's produced at a higher level than his cost. I'm hoping that trend continues.
Alex Rios (5) - I know, it's an odd year. Still 20/20 options that don't hurt your BA don't grow on trees and he goes later than most of them.
Lance Berkman (5) - Does he have one healthy year left in him? If he does, in that park playing DH, I'm sure his sweet swing will produce.
Kris Medlen (5) - He usually goes at the back end of that pitching tier that typically runs from the 4th to 6th round. I believe he is undervalued there due to his short sample size of dominance last year and that he's expected to K a few less than some of the other options that go before him. However, his ERA/WHIP upside makes up for a lot of 6-7 starters that we'll have to throw out there in-season.
Alexi Ogando (5) - A couple years back I dropped him for several teams right before his first start and just before he went on a half season run of quality starts. This year I won't make the same mistake.
Trevor Cahill (5) - A few years back, he was a prized prospect. Slowly but surely his skills have developed to the point where he makes a real solid option as a 4th or 5th fantasy starter.
Wilin Rosario (5) - He's been there quite often when I've been ready to grab my 1st catcher. Nice power in a nice park to have power, 30-HR power from one of your catcher spots can make up for a lot of speed options in the end game.
Those are some of the players I'm counting on this season, who are yours?

Drafted Joey Votto on 4 of my 5 squads. Always wound up with picks 6-10 and think he's in for a huge season.
Have Dexter Fowler on all five teams. Seemed to be a great bargain for my 5th OF and no one ever really took him earlier than his ADP.
Jose Veras wound up on just about all my teams. Always needed a third closer and he was always there at the end.

Re: What players are you most invested in?
I will be getting my roster report complied while I watch basebll tomorrow. But I believe I am on the high end of these going down the list.
Nobody in top 3 as I only drew a top 3 spot 3 out of 26 times even though I had my KDS in the top 3 every time. Wont list guys I have about neutral.
Hamilton I seem to have more than my fair share. Not comfortable with that. I was the sucker. I do think I managed to avoid him in the high dollar satty's though. So dollar wise might be more neutral
Longoria my fair share
Strasburgh my fair share
Jones my fair share although I don't think he has much upside to exceed his position in draft
Ellsbury far more than my fair share. Probably stupid in hindsight.
Wright my fair share
Zimmerman my fair share
Weaver far more than my fair share or even the share I wanted him which is none. He was always kind of the last guy there and I was the dumb ass that took him
Hill my fair share
Freeman my fair share
Grienke my fair share see Weaver
Someone of Rizzo, Howard, Ike, Konerko on about every one of my teams.
Asrubal Cabrera on far more than I care to think about
Bourn a bit too much
Rodney
Rivera
REVERE a ton
ANDERSON a ton
Kendrick a lot
Wilhelmson, Balfour and Jim Johnson a lot it seems
Ogando a ton
League a ton
Doumit a ton
Moss way too much. Awful pick
D. holland a bunch
Everth a bucnh
Kubel a ton
Viciedo a ton
Vogelsong my fair share
Murphy my share
Fiers somehow in both diamonds. No clue why I took his ass
Iwakuma a bunch and now dont feel good about it
Mccarthy a ton
Cashner a lot and not looking good
Edwin Jackson my fair share
Parra a ton
Gee a bunch
Smoak a ton
Maxwell my fair share but may have shitcanned him in the 12 teamers
Straily my fair share
Moreland a ton
Lind a ton
Flowers way too much
Reimold my fair share
Villinueva my fair share after faab tonight
Wells a bunch
Happ a bunch
Man, looking at that sorry ass list does little for my confidence.

Re: What players are you most invested in?
I like looking at these. I have 5 FAAB teams, a Super, 3 XII's and a Main Event. Here goes.
David Phelps (5) late round flyer and FA pickup. Probably won't wait long but he has the pedigree but in a bad stadium for a fly ball pitcher.
Franklyn Gutierrez (5) same as above, should be a decent end game play, as long as he's healthy. I won't wait to long though.
Justin Ruggiano (3) seemed to pick up the same guys at the end.
Doug Fister (3) Counting on the Tigers!!
Pedro Alverez (3) Didn't go in targeting him, but needed corner power at this point in the draft.
David Price (3) He was a third round target everywhere. I had him in the first tier with the other 3.
R. A. Dickey (3) He was available in the 7th in all three XII drafts. Just to much for me to pass up. It sure would be nice to see both Cy Young award winners repeat this year.
Jason Hammell (3) I bought in to the 21st round pick.
MIGUEL CABRERA (2) I had first choice twice and was going to split it up with Trout, but when it came to showtime I just couldn't leave the best player in the game sitting there.
Marco Scuttaro (2) Middle infield bench flexibility.
Carlos Ruiz (2) Another I couldn't pass on in the 20's.
All in all I liked my 12 team drafts and predictably struggled in the Main Event. I was my own biggest problem as bailed on my original game plan. I don't think I'm going to like the results.

Re: What players are you most invested in?
Catcher - AJ Pierzynski (rd 12-15) - doesn't have to repeat last year's unbelievable year to still rank among the upper tier of catchers that get drafted in rds 6-8. I think he hits 280+ with 20 hrs.
CI - Mitch Moreland (rd 20-24) - Everyday player now with power in a good lineup and ballpark. Aramis Ramirez (rd 4-6) - Consistent clean-up hitter for a good team, doesn't seem to get any respect in many drafts. Justin Morneau (rd 13) - Harder to get as the pre-season went along, was one of the elite hitters in the game prior to a bad concussion which kept him out of baseball for a year and took another year to fully get over. A bargain even if he's not all the way back to what he once was.
MI - Chase Utley (rd 7-9) - Still a very good all-around hitter for 2b, healthier than last season which was solid. Jimmy Rollins (rd 5-6) - Similar to Aramis, consistent leadoff hitter no one seems to want too badly. Dan Uggla (rd 14) - 30hr potential and BA should improve from fluky 2012 season, 2nd half hit much better.
OF - Michael Saunders (rd 13-18) - Seemed to develop as last season went along and continued that into Spring. Seattle lineup looking stronger, park smaller, speed and power and some upside in BA relative to last yr. Jackie Bradley Jr (rd 20-26) - Looks like a good all-around hitter with a nice swing, patience, some pop and speed, could be hitting near the top of the lineup soon. Aaron Hicks (rd 17-20) - Another late OF with tools, and batting leadoff. Bryce Harper (late rd 1) - With a number of potential suspensions and injury questions to various first round picks, Harper was the guy I most confortable with near the back end of drafts. Projected for a 30/25 year. Carlos Gomez (rd 7-9) - One of the better power/speed combos in baseball that no one talks about, some BA risk but still a bargain compared to the first rounders who can put up similar hr/sb numbers with a higher BA. Mike Morse (rd 10) - Can hit for power and avg in the middle of a seattle lineup that I really like, only needs to stay healthy. Josh Reddick (rd 14-19) - Big stats last season for this late of a pick, should be good for 25+ hrs and some sbs. Wil Myers (rd 18-28) - Probably the most certain call-up early in the season among the elite prospects. Franklin Gutierrez (rd 28-29) - When healthy (which is almost never) a nice fantasy option ... but expected to hit #2 for seattle in a stacked lineup. Not many with his potential and a certain role at the end of the draft.

Re: What players are you most invested in?
I did two main events and had 3rd and 5th pick in the draft. I thought i would end up with similar players especially in the later rounds but in reality I ended up with only 3 and all taken in the first 7 rounds
David Wright(28th, 35th) In the first draft I took him 28th overall and with the 26th pick I didnt want to double up with him, but at 35 i could not pass on that value oh and im a huge Mets fan!
Zack Greinke (63rd, 65th) Either you're on him or you're on Weaver I felt like, I'm a member of Zack Attack
Matt Moore(93rd, 95th) I like him alot compared to other 3rd tier guys and I'm willing to gamble on the upside.

In 22 leagues and have Stephen Strasburg in 17 of them. All or nothing for me.
Also have Kipnis in 12 leagues, Medlen in 8 leagues, and unfortunately after today, Sabathia in 6 leagues.

One rough inning thanks to JBJ, then he settled in looking like old CC - I think he'll be ok other than the yankees not scoring many runs.BK METS wrote:In 22 leagues and have Stephen Strasburg in 17 of them. All or nothing for me.

I would say RA Dickey, as I drafted him in almost every one of my drafts and got good value for him as well. Another one I targeted later was Anthony Rizzo. I drafted him in the fourth round in the NFBC XII, but I don't care if I people thought he went high, I wanted him and knew he wouldn't come back around to me....
Re: What players are you most invested in?
He will get enough wins versus everyone else.. 0-0 tie, into the 10th inning will work..TOXIC ASSETS wrote:Re: What players are you most invested in?

I stayed away from Strasburg this year. They are going to be very careful with him again this year in regards to pitch counts as we saw this week...

Re: What players are you most invested in?
My most important players (Out of 3 Mains, 3 XII, 5 OL):
Paul Maholm (2/3/2 -- only on 7 of 11 teams, lol)
Nelson Cruz (3/1/1 -- on all 3 Mains)
Maicer Izturis (2/1/3)
Addison Reed (2/2/1)
Brett Lawrie (2/1/2)
Corey Hart (2/1/2)
Shaun Marcum (2/2/0)
Jason Heyward (1/2/2)
Nolan Reimold (1/2/2)
Sergio Romo (2/1/1)
Emilio Bonifacio (0/3/2)
Is it a bad thing that 3 of my top 7 are starting on the DL?

How would you know he wouldn't come back to you? He went 7,7,7,8,8,9,9 for his round drafted in my drafts.
