Good luck everyone.

What did the NFBC do to Tri Star to put them on their "b" list?

Last year most of the weekly prizes were of the Griffey, Jeter, Clemens types. I have a bat just like Blalock"s, I swear I should hit .300 with it but I keep getting .263 :D

I realize that this is not why we play the game, but it is a definite bummer to win any competition and then discover that the prize blows.

If a suggestion can be passed along to Tri-Star Productions, they should be informed that more appropriate items for this kind of thing are:

Historic/Superstar players (Jeter, Griffey, Clemente, Mays or Mantle... not Cabrera or Blalock... Carlton is fine)
Autographed jerseys or significant framed images that aren't tiny (not signed baseballs)

No one expects a Honus Wagner rookie card, or the ball hit for a record-breaking Home Run, but it's not that hard to spice things up a bit. A cool photo of Jeter's playoff shuttle pass in Oakland, or when he flew into the 4th row making that catch, could be a great prize. A shot of Kirk Gibson's 1988 World Series Home Run would be cool as well. The Ken Griffey Jr. #30 Reds jersey from last year was an excellent idea. The key is really having Griffey/Jeter/Pujols/etc... not Orlando Cabrera, Steve Finley or Trot Nixon.

I see this as a bit small minded - these are free extra gifts / prizes. I think we should be thanking them...

Rodger's comments = serious as cancer

Hey, I'm glad the prizes are autographed items. I thought Greg had mentioned Tri Star Promotions. I was afraid we were getting foam fingers.

If the complainers win anything, shouldn't they out of principle not accept it?

I just wish to clarify that my stance is "Happy to get anything as a comp...much appreciated."

By the way...is good old Bip still in a booth, helping to call games? He wasn't bad if I remember correctly.

[/QUOTE]Is this your Christmas list? You have to be kidding me here. We are getting the chance to win free prizes and you want autographed jerseys, mantle autos, autographed frames that aren't tiny!!! If you happen to win that Trot Nixon autographed ball please mail it to me. I'd appreciate it a heck of alot more than your requested jeter photo diving into the stands to catch a fair ball.

Frankly, I was horrified reading Rodger's post. What a complete A-hole! These are EXTRAS you ungrateful POS! How can winning an autographed ball from a Hall of Fame pitcher with 300+ wins be lame? I say thanks to Greg and Tom for going to the trouble of getting a new sponsor for this season. It's nice to play for a little extra each week.

Usually, I try to stay away from these kinds of "debates," but I have to agree with most people on this. I would be happy to have any of these prizes. Sure, the bat Kirk Gibson used to hit the HR would be great, and so would the EMPTY bottle of cream and clear that Bonds used (had to say it...) :D

I'm also grateful for the weekly prizes, trying to give Greg and Tom a little jab and it was taken to another level. Sorry about that. :(

Sean Burroughs has to be patting himself on the back for being in that company last year. Maybe that autographed picture was during his best years, in little league.
