Darn closers and down goes Motte

I drafted him on few teams, figuring he was one of the more healthier closers... I struggled on whether to drop him on 2 teams this past FAAB, but ultimatley did, as I had a gut feeling it was serious.... and like many of us, it seems we always feel we need to chase the next one that might get a chance on FAAB. By my count there were 4 being chased this past FAAB and they dont even have the "closer" job. I think the day is coming when closers will not hold that job for more than 1-2 blown saves.
Who else hates closers?

Looks like Motte may need TJS. His MRI shows a torn ligament. If rest and rehab don't show improvement by May 1 then TJS is likely. That would mean that the Cards 'pen will join the early season closer carousel. So far the FAAB bids have been huge for guys not even guaranteed to continue to close. You are almost better punting saves at the draft table and spending your FAAB money on one of the many "closer du jour" guys. The only problem with that strategy is that you never really know which guy will get and keep the job

.I,too, hate closers

And I try to be smart and draft two of the closest "sure things" out side of Kimbrel.
So far Papelbon and Rivera have exactly ONE save each.
Meh...its early, I guess.

Obviously the Phils and Yanks have not had too many leads of 3 runs or less late in the game. As far as being a "sure" thing, short of another freak injury like Mo had last year, both Papelbon and Rivera will almost certainly retain the closer role for the entire year. The saves will come for both of them. You can count on 70+ saves from those two.

It used to be salt would clump up on rainy days due to humidity. With 'iodized salt' from Morton's, salt could pour freely.
Hence, the 'Umbrella Girl' logo and the 'When it Rains, It Pours' slogan.. ....Love that logo.
Hey! May as well learn something, right?!
