Boston Marathon Attack

Post by Outlaw » Mon Apr 15, 2013 1:48 pm

Another sad day, looks like a possible terrorist attack at the Boston marathon. Right after the Red Sox game ended. Have to wonder what attending sporting events of any type will be like in the near future.

Prayers to the victims and thier famailes

Just horrible.

Last night watched a show about the long-running Pakistan-India border battle and nuclear threat, and all of the terrorists crossing the border to do nothing but wreak havoc including the Mumbai attack of a few years ago. Let's hope it's not that and just an isolated crazy.

The fact that it is Patriot's Day suggest that this is a domestic attack. I believe both the OKC bombing and the VT shootings occurred on Patriot's Day, but I could be wrong. Regardless, what the hell.

More devices found, one under the grandstand.

Early report is they look like homemade bombs.

Surveillance photos show man with backpacks in area of first explosion. Unexploded device also supposed to be a treasure trove of evidence.

Yes, both were on Patriot's Day and domestic terrorism most likely I would imagine.

Just dreadful.

One person of interest in custody, in the hospital. Sever burns over this person's body.

First thought was it's Al Queda at it again. Then I remembered that it's also tax day, perhaps some homegrown nuts were responsible for this as some sort of sick protest against the system. We shall see. No matter who is proven responsible, let's hope that Obama calls it what it is...a terrorist attack on his watch. Not anything else.

Beyond tragic, beyond horrible. Everyone hug your loved ones an extra time or two tonight.

Oh yes, let's just impeach the bum..how did he let this happen..ON HIS WATCH ??!!!!

And you know what else ? He didn't get the gun background check legislation thru the senate. Oh wait, that was 45 senators (4 democrats) that decided the will of the NRA was more important than the safety of the American people. Nearly 90% of Americans want expanded background checks (and what nut job doesn't ? perhaps the type of person who would set off a bomb or shoot up a school), yet these elected officials grabbed their ankles for the NRA.

btw...speaking of al-qaeda & terrorist attacks, who was president when the worst terrorist attack ever happened ? And one that actually could have been prevented had that Commander in Chief bothered to listen to the CIA, who were practically begging him to pay attention to al-qaeda (but he & his admin. were hell bent on gettin' that oil from Iraq).

So if we're judging presidents solely based on terrorist attacks that happened "on their watch" we've been far safer w/ Pres. Obama.
Always be closing.

If anyone wants to listen to what is going on LIVE with the Boston attacks in Watertown...

One suspect captured and died at hospital from injuries. MIT Officer has been shot and killed earlier tonight. Explosives also have gone off. Right now in process of looking for suspect number 2 and have set a perimeter and going door to door.

If Suspect #1 was truly one of the bombers, I take a small but definite pleasure in knowing the SOB is roasting in Hell.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Next time we are able to meet face to face, I would like to have several cold beers with you (my treat) so that I can properly introduce you to a nutjob who does not want to sacrifice his Constitutional rights on a piece of legislation targeted at CONTROL and not at solving the problem, which is, as I see it, the proliferation of violence in the United States. I do not want to turn this string into a shit storm of pro- versus con-gun control, but please consider the negative impact of other poorly considered legislation in this area.

You and I are on the same page. We want this country of ours to be safer. We just differ I think on identifying the right issue to attack.

From what I understand, Patriot's Day is always on a Monday but the OKC bombing was on Wed April 19 so not likely on Patriot's Day.
However, April 19 was the anniversary of the Waco massacre and some other dark days in American history. Makes me suspicious of a "domestic terrorist" being responsible for Boston 2013.
That's not quite right.

Patriot's Day is the 19th. That is the anniversary of the battle of Lexington & Concord.

Patriot's Day is celebrated on the 3rd Monday in April.

Patriots' Day (officially Patriots' Day in Massachusetts[1] and Wisconsin[2] and Patriot's Day in Maine[3]) is a civic holiday commemorating the anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775. These were the first battles of the American Revolutionary War. It is observed on the third Monday in April in Massachusetts[4] and Maine[5] (once part of Massachusetts), and is a public school observance day in Wisconsin[6]. Florida law also encourages people to celebrate it, though it is not treated as a public holiday.[7] Observances and re-enactments of these first battles of the American Revolution occur annually at Lexington Green in Lexington, Massachusetts, (around 6:00 am) and The Old North Bridge in Concord, Massachusetts, (around 9:00 am). In the morning, mounted re-enactors with state police escorts retrace the rides of Paul Revere and William Dawes, calling out warnings the whole way.

Since 1969, the holiday has been observed on the third Monday in April, providing a three-day long weekend, as well as being the first day of public school vacation week in Maine and Massachusetts. Previously, it had been designated as April 19, the actual anniversary of the battles.

2011: Monday, April 18
2012: Monday, April 16
2013: Monday, April 15
2014: Monday, April 21
2015: Monday, April 20
2016: Monday, April 18
