The Prior Best Pitcher?

So I hear that Mark Prior's Achilles tendon is hurt? Is that likely to be a lingering injury? I know he threw a little yesterday and it sounds like it went okay, but how far do you think he'll drop? Any chance of him falling, just for the sake of argument, to #8?

Sure, I'd bet he falls to or past #8 in at least half the leagues.

I’d say he falls past 8 in 11 of the 13 leagues (Chicago being the exception.)

A guy with a bad Achilles that could miss a month, I know I’d go Pedro and a hitter if I were picking at the end of the round.

The REAL question is will Randy Johnson fall to the 30 pick?

I'd say Prior will be there in the second round. Pedro should go ahead of him except maybe in Chicago.

Yah right! Prior will not there at 8 in more than a handful of leagues unless a piano drops on his arm!!! And I looked for reports about an ACL injury, but that's BS! Let me guess, you have the #9 pick? ;)

But even if that was true, who would you take at #8 then? I don't like Bonds/Manny because they're injury risks, I don't like Beltran because he hit only .283 on the road in '03 (and .257 in '02) and everyone says he's going to get traded out of Kauffman park. Pedro? I love his numbers but he only gets you 190 innings. I'd take Halladay at 13 or 14, but not at 8! 8th pick stinks! I guess I take Prior if I'm lucky or Bonds and pray that his back is ok.

You seem to think we're pulling your leg here - why bother asking the question if you know your own answer already?

I wouldn't take Prior in my top 8, but that's just me... I don't have Chicago blinders on

Btw, I knew a guy who went by Moonlight as a handle and who's first name is Graham. Used to see him in chat rooms years ago. By any chance, are you that Moonlight/Graham? Seems like an odd enough combination of names ;)

If Prior's gone, you could probably still get Maddux at 8.

I'm only 33, although a bit chubby and balding I could pass for 40 easily ;)

I was so focused on this other Moonlight Graham I know that I didn't even think about Field of Dreams.

My brain is fried, lol - thanks for the reminder.

Beer - yes, defintely lots of beer this weekend.

Well, beer when I'm paying and Captain and Coke when the casino has me on their IV!

Nope, there must've been another Moonlight Graham. (Based on a real baseball player who was worked into the WP Kinsella book, "Shoeless Joe," which then became "Field of Dreams") Sorry to doubt your advice; I would just be very very surprised if Prior is there at 8 in more than a couple leagues. If I'm wrong, my bad!
