Nope. Just a lat bruise. Probably sit him for a week. I swear these pussies are made of paper mache.

Paper mache is definitely not a term I would use on Harper. The kid will play unless he is forced out of the lineup. He plays balls out EVERY play, something baseball has sorely missed. So I bet he misses a game or two if that.

He is a warrior with one caveat when you draft him - be prepared for that balls out crazy warrior mindset... he fears no walls, so injuries will be an ongoing them with him. All out every play. Man is he a true ball player.

Every little league coach should teach their kids to play like him. Sickening to watch 8-18 year olds walk off the baseball field. Run your young lazy ass off the field like the game is supposed to be played

But regarding Mr. Harper - Pussy or paper mache need not apply here

Would Josh Johnson be considered the opposite of Harper? How about seeing many outfielders (Detroit) constantly backing away from fly balls letting them drop in so they don't have to dive for them? I'm sure this is everywhere too.

Harper right back in there tonight... not the "wus" most of them are.... As a kid, I saw Mantle at Yankee stadium in late 60's agianst the Tigers wobble up to the plate with 2 bad knees and jack 2 out that day, one from each side.... There were plenty of pithcers back in those days that pitched right through elbow and shoulder problems. Amzing how soft msot of them have become these days. Its refreshing to see someone like a Harper ask into the lineup instead of asking out, or being told you got a booboo you can't play until we have every MRI and Cat Scan done and you see 3 different doctors... Werth asked in tonight too... Davey is old school, if he asks are you good to go, you go...

Josh Johnson should've pitched tommorrow....

I agree. Now he is going to see some doctor in Florida! They just took an MRI and all was supposed to be fine.....now he is going to speak with someone because it did not feel right playing catch today or yesturday. Obviously, not TJ because the MRI was clean. Just can't understand it either! Some players are gamers, and others are not is the way I view it.

Harper wants to play no matter what. Some players probably look for an excuse not to play when they can! I'm not sure if it's because their career can last longer this way and that is how they think or what. But, that's my guess and I'm not saying I am right or anything on that.

Those players were essentially "slaves", owners didn't really care if they got hurt and missed the rest of their career, they just got the most they could out of them as fast as possible, then replaced them with the next cheap guy from the farm. Sandy Koufax blew out his arm when he was young because no one cared enough to protect their investment with him with good coaching, so he didn't learn to pitch until his 6th year or so when a pitching coach finally took a longer look at him, but by that time years and years of terrible habits were causing him pain every time he lifted his arm -- problem was those players had no options, they didn't have millions in the bank to go sit on, they had to go out there and play through the pain, or their kids didn't eat.

Today's players are huge investments, most normal people could live for more than a decade off the one-year league minimum, the teams don't want these guys out there with strained obliques and sore elbows, because it MIGHT become a bigger problem. A game off here and there at $10mil/year is much better than a year off at $10mil. Today's science also makes it a lot easier to diagnose serious issues earlier too; I remember watching the Joe Namath documentary on HBO and he said when he got hurt at Alabama, he knew something was really wrong, but they didn't have the technology (MRI/CT) to see inside to get a clear picture of the damage, so they just put a brace on it and told him to go back out there for the next game.
