Free Agents and FAAB

Post by poopytooth » Sun May 05, 2013 9:15 am

I have always been curious to the following...
If you are set at a position, and a quality free agent becomes available, do you still bid, even if he will spend a good amount of time on bench?
For example, if you have Miggy at 3b, Wright as CI and 25HR guy as Util, would you bid on Arenado. It is Coors field, afterall!

Same thing for closers...you have two good ones and a team names a new closer.

Injuries could come into play later on, but how muchFAAB would you bid?

If the likes of a Nolan Arenado was available, but I didn't have a real need, I would still place a bid. I'd probably go something like 50-60 FAAB. If I get him at that price, great. If not, that's OK too. At least I am guaranteeing that no one else gets him for a bargain basement price.
