Pitching line

Post by BK METS » Fri May 10, 2013 8:52 pm

Anyone see the pitching line for Alex Cobb tonight. 4 2/3 innings, 13Ks! You would think, after striking out 13, you would at least make it through the 5th inning. Crazy. Can't blame them for taking him out, after 117 pitches and losing 3-2. 13 out of 14 outs were strike outs. Amazing.

In the 3rd inning Cobb faced 4 batters. He struck out all 4. And gave up an earned run.

WP on a K. Steal 2nd. Steal 3rd. Balk home.

Didn't notice that. Thanks for straightening that out. Still a crazy line... has to be some kind of record.

Four K's on four batters in an inning and an earned run? Gotta be a first.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

From Elias-
Cobb is the first pitcher to ever strike out every batter in an inning and give up a run...

He was also the first to have strike outs in 13 of the first 14 outs and leave a game....

Gotta love the age of the pitch counts!

Randy Johnson also struck out 13 of the first 14 outs....Obviously, he stayed in the game :D
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
