Wacha and Wheeler - How much?

Post by Outlaw » Mon May 27, 2013 11:06 am

Wacha up tommorrow, Wheeler probably next week.... Seeign how much Fernandez, Cingrani and Gausman went for, what about these guys? Do both of them stick the rest of the way, barring epic meltdowns?

There are a lot of unknowns in the St. Louis rotation. I think I just read that Westbrook cancelled an appointment for a second opinion because he was feeling better. My guess is Gast may be done. Garcia gone.

With all that said, I'm not sure why Wacha was bypassed as many times as he was this season

hmm. i dont get it. i was told that i was a damn fool for thinking that there would be anyone worth bidding on after fernandez. yeah.. nobody is going to have higher bids or have more talent than him.. he is the best. THE BEST!

as i wrote.. there is a new flavor each week that is driving the FAAB engines. depending on remaining cash flows id expect similar bids to what we have seen.... somewhere between $150-$450. we have people dropping like flies, others being sent to the minors and we could be starting to see the beginning of the closer carousel.

money wont be around long this season.... unless you are some genius who believes that we have seen the best. Id personally love to do a Wacha Wacha dance, but since we have less than $500 remaining, im not sure its enough.

The point was, $600-800+ bids would not be seen again, since Fernandez.. and that has proven to be correct. Not saying that Fernandez was worth it, but his situation was very odd since we got to see several very good starts before he was made available in FAAB. Bids from $100-400 will happen often..

As far as Wheeler, he is not available in most leagues.

Oh.. sure. couch your response now that fernandez has started to fall on his face and he has become the over priced SP that i and others said that he would be on that horrific team. the drop off in bidding from fernandez to cingrani was negligible and there have been quite a few of other "high dollar gems" that have been bid on since (heath bell and dee gordon just to name 2). the 600-800 bids were the outliers as most bids were from $350-500 on fernandez and with the new roster requirements the fernandez situation (him starting but being unable to bid on him) has become routine.must be hard to be an einstein surrounded by gomer pyle's.

Happy Memorial Day!

It's amazing to me how even the most "respected veterans" in the NFBC mangle FAAB. Example watch the Wacha bids this week. You know his profile and his experience level....they have already told u his innings will be capped at 150 and he's thrown 50+...he's not remotely compareable with gausman stuff wise if u actually watch them pitch...and ur gonna toss 200 at a guy who can not give u more than 90 innings max. Makes sense...

As a Fernandez owner for $318 my guess is both of these free agents will be bought for "too much" money. Sometimes the best players are the ones you pay little for, as I did with Josh Donaldson and McLouth. Spend away boys. Maybe one of there gems will be worth the money.
OK - So I'm not as good as I thought I was; but at least I am consistent.
