Looking for Zack Wheeler In FAAB

We've had several emails from NFBC owners who couldn't find Zack Wheeler in their free agent pool this week. Well, he made his MLB debut on Tuesday during the Mets' doubleheader and then they sent him back down to the minors to keep their 25-man roster intact for the rest of the week. Therefore, since he's now in the minors, he can't be picked up in leagues where he wasn't originally drafted. He is expected to be called up again to start this Tuesday and should remain with the Mets after that. For those leagues, he will be available again then, as long as he remains on the roster through Sunday morning.
But for leagues where he was drafted and then cut during the season, he remains in your FAAB pool. Good luck all on the bidding tonight.

Greg,
Would it be hard, programming-wise, to keep a player 'alive' to be faab'ed once he has obtained 25 man roster status?
I realize this would necessitate a rule change for next year, but this would alleviate the 'he's up, he's down' yo-yo that some leagues endure. This would also enhance the free agent list. Needed, in that injuries seem to grow each year.

It's a rule change we can consider next year. It's not really about the programming; it's about the rules we had in mind when we started the contest, which was that all minor-leaguers who went undrafted would be eligible for owners in those leagues at the same time that they reached the majors. No stashing before they reached the majors. Examples like Wheeler are rare, but they happen.
But it's worth exploring that once a player reaches the majors he then remains available in FAAB after his first game for the rest of the season. We'll consider and ask for feedback by season's end.

I think once you make it to the show than you should remain in faab for the rest of the season.

Any player that accumulates any statistic stays in FA pool the whole year, in addtion to being drafted before the season.

Seems like a slam dunk if we were to vote on this change for next season. Agreed, the rules for this year should remain in place until the end of the season.

Mets recalled RHP Zack Wheeler from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Wheeler was optioned back to the minors after his major league debut, but it was a procedural move designed to provide some temporary bullpen depth until his next scheduled start Tuesday against the White Sox. The 23-year-old should be up for good this time and possesses immense upside in fantasy leagues.
Rev up those FA engines. How much money do you have left?
