Pretty good article on Buxton. I do believe we are living in a golden age of prospects, considering how quickly guys have been having success at the Major league level

You got that right. It's hard to believe that there might be another young mega talent following on the heels of Trout, Harper and Puig. Makes me wonder if this is beginning of trend that we will see going forward, or if looking back at this era twentyfive years from now, we will still think of it as a golden age.

I wonder how much of this is post-steroid era influenced.

It seems that the there are far fewer (mega)productive 40yo-plus players, therefore less blocking the paths of the next generation.
