Who else MIGHT have been a PED user?

Post by TOXIC ASSETS » Tue Jul 23, 2013 4:14 pm

Braun was a no-brainer. AROD also. But there are others who have may have used in the past and might or might not still be using.

What characterizes a user? Several things including: 1) Consistent high level stats year after year and 2) avoidance of injury and/or recovery from injury at a faster pace.

Anyone care to throw out any names? Innocent until proven guilty and this is mere speculation.

I'm going to throw out a player whose stats have completely gone to crap this year: Josh Johnson.

Anyone else care to throw out a name? Jose Canseco named plenty and we know there's a list of about 100 players who have used, so I don't think we are out of bounds here in speculating.

Three more for fun: Pujols, Cabrera and the newest addition--Chris Davis.

One of the many sad things about all this for me is it puts every player under the microscope now because Braun didn't fit the steroid profile. He didn't undergo a massive physical change and he didn't have an alarming spike in production seemingly out of nowhere or at unprecedented production levels like Bonds and Clemens. That's why I think it's important for MLB to tell everyone how long they believe Braun was on PEDs and whether he was on them this season. The former is especially important since he passed every one of his drug tests in his career except one so if he was somehow cheating the system that's important information to know. The latter is important given the fact he went on the DL for the first time in his career and if he suddenly stopped using PEDs that may be the reason why or at least one of the potential reasons.

I agree Tom. I know they would never do this but if they held samples eventually the tests would catch up. :)
As for names...Pujols, Pujols and Pujols.

To me the bigger question is who would upset you the most if they were using...for me it would be Kershaw. I would probably cry...

I would agree, maybe add Mariano too... got a gut feeling though, 1-2 of them might be involved.

From this list, I'd be least surprised to find out these guys used:

1) David Wright
2) Matt Holliday
3) Joey Votto

Forearms like David Wright's aren't something you see in everyday life.

So just because he trains harder than the everyday guy, he has to be juicing? This conversation is getting silly. Everyday guys do not become superstar athletes. Do not discredit someone's hard work by making weak assumptions from a couch.

No, doesn't have to be. I just wouldn't be surprised. Funny, that's what Gary Sheffield said about Barry Bonds while defending him against steroid accusations. Sheff said, 'No way. I worked out with him and that guy works harder than everybody.'

Think that's what they said about Clemens, too. Hardest working guy in the gym. Notice a trend here?

Gomez is at the top of the list for me, Kemp right behind him. Four years ago, I was ostracized by my in-laws (huge Cardinal fans) when I suggested and rationalized Pujols "could" be on "roids". It would be bitter-sweet for me if it was found he used.

I've heard the Miami Heat has player names connected with all the BioGen records... I'm not a big hoops fan...

How did we get from MLB PED's to a statement like this. I am a an avid UK fan. Please PM me with your concerns regarding the program, and please don't make statements like this without substantiating.
