Jason Heyward is expected to be sidelined for 4-6 weeks after an X-ray on his right jaw revealed a fracture.
Heyward was hit in the jaw by a Jon Niese pitch during Wednesday's game, resulting in a pair of fractures. He'll undergo surgery in Atlanta Thursday. It's obviously a big blow for the Braves, but luckily they have a big cushion in the National League East. Heyward should be back late in the season and be fine for the playoffs. B.J. Upton, Jordan Schafer and Evan Gattis will see more at-bats with Heyward out.
Bad news - Jason Heyward out for four to six weeks.
Good news - The Braves have a huge divisional lead and may be able to survive with a patchwork lineup.
Worst news - More B.J. Upton. YeeeHawwww!
Best news - After hitting Heyward in the chin, the ball still cleared the center field fence by ten feet.
