Dan Semsel & Ken Norred Are 2013 Main Event Champs

CONGRATS to Dan Semsel of Fairborn, Ohio and Ken Norred of Ashland, Alabama as they teamed up to win this year's NFBC Main Event and the $100,000 grand prize. Dan and Ken are NFBC Charter Members who teamed up this year to become our 9th different NFBC overall champion.

Dan & Ken led their Madcow & Bama team to a first place finish in the March 23rd Las Vegas League 7 with 136.5 points. Ironically, Jeff Dobies finished 2nd overall and he also was in this league, finishing 2nd in the league with 128.5 points. It was the first time in NFBC history that two teams from the same league finished 1-2 overall in any national contest. Rounding out the Top 6 overall were Scott Jenstad, KC Cha, Doug Cassidy & Pat DePirro, and Jaime Baird.

Dan & Ken also finished 7th overall as the Bama & Madcow team also won their March 30th Las Vegas League 2 with 128 points. As if that wasn't enough, Kenny won his Las Vegas Auction League and finished 2nd overall in the NFBC Auction Championship. What a year for these guys.

Join us in congratulating our newest NFBC champions and the proud owners of the $100,000 grand prize. They were in the Top 5 for most of the year and led for much of the second half, quite an accomplishment indeed. And they not only won here, but they won in other formats as well. Pretty impressive guys, pretty impressive.

Over our first 10 years of the NFBC Main Event, we have had some great champions. We've also gone from 195 teams in 2004 at $1,250 per team to 435 teams in 2013 at $1,500 per team. Every champion has won a $100,000 grand prize, but league prizes have increased from $5,000 to $5,600 and total league prizes have increased from $7,500 in 2004 to $10,000 this year.

An incredible season from a pair of good guys that I got to chat with a bit this past draft season in Vegas. I remember discussing the Astros, the Braves, a few other baseball related topics one night after the drafts on the patio overlooking the pool, and thinking to myself how insightful these guys were. Well, they more than proved it this season. A great job from great players and now well deserved champions. Congratulations Dan, Ken. Enjoy the fruits.

A quick shout out as well to my neighbor and the best fantasy baseball player on this side of Long Island, Mr. Dobies. A great job my friend and if not for the Semsel/Norred juggernaut, you'd be the Overall Champion and might have even won the league you were all in as well. Wow, talk about the luck of league placement.

One last shout out to Scott Jenstad and his 3rd place finish. Another CDM pro making noise on this side of tracks. When you visit the BBS, you see how respected Scott is at that game. No slouch over here as well.

I could go on and on throughout the top 10, 20, etc. etc. of this year's Overall. All great players. It shows the level of player that plays here and makes finishing on top of a contest this tough even more the accomplishment. Congrats to all and see you next season.

Congratulations on a remarkable year. I had the pleasure to watch you two and Jeff battle starting on draft day at our table in Las Vegas.
