Alan Greenberg Wins NFBC Auction Title

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Oct 01, 2013 9:45 am

CONGRATS to Alan Greenberg of New Haven, Connecticut as he is our 2013 NFBC Auction Championship winner and the owner of the $15,000 grand prize. Alan won his March 29th New York Auction League title with 129.5 points, earning 86.3 percent of all available points, and he won the overall title with 1,130.5 points. With 135 teams in the contest, Alan's BK Mets A2 earned 83.7 percent of all available points in what was a tough, close race to the finish.

This was a season long battle for the top spot that saw several owners in first place at some point during the season. Ken Norred, who teamed up with Dan Semsel to win the NFBC Main Event overall title, finished 2nd overall. Hal Goldstein also had a remarkable season, finishing 3rd and 6th overall as he won one auction league title and finished 2nd to Alan in that March 29th New York Auction League. Finishing 4th was Michael Edelman and Shawn Harvey finished 5th overall.

Alan competed in New York City on the Second Weekend and he also made his first trip to Las Vegas for the NFBC's First Weekend. If his schedule works right this year, he may keep that double weekend of fun.

I'll ask Alan for his auction values and add them to this list, but his roster consisted of:

Miguel Cabrera
Craig Kimbrel
Albert Pujols
Josh Hamilton
Yadier Molina
Michael Bourn
Kris Medlen
CC Sabathia
Jim Johnson
Jason Kipnis
Julio Teheran
Pedro Alvarez
Alfonso Soriano
Everth Cabrera
Paul Maholm
Brandon Moss
Jose Veras
Joe Blanton
Gordon Beckham
Garrett Jones
Trevor Plouffe
Philip Hughes
Wellington Castillo
Mitch Moreland
Ervin Santana
Stephen Drew
Gregor Blanco
Andrew Bailey
Kyle Kendrick
Bronson Arroyo

Fantastic job Alan! Must admit you held off a real pro in Ken Norred. Well deserved win!

More props to my teammate Ken for an amazing year in several formats. ROLL TIDE!

Great job Alan. It was back and forth that last month and your team left us in the dust that last weekend. Well done.

Thanks everyone! Its funny, I look at that list of players and you would think with major busts such as Pujols, Hamilton, and CC Sabathia, I would have had no chance of winning. I was very lucky and had a lot of things fall my way... and accolades to all of the other winners. Its awesome to compete with the best of the best in this industry and although things turned out good for me in the end, I look at my main event teams this year and realize the level of competition is so immense, I count my blessings that I had one team that performed pretty well.

Thanks again and see you in Vegas!!!

I didn't play the Auction Championships this season, but it's good to see the "2nd" biggest Mets fan on these boards take home a title. ;)

Congrats Alan, but don't spend all the winnings on front row season tickets at Citifield. Save at least a little for a few beers and some dogs to enjoy at the games. :)

Jeff, you had a much more successful year than I did, finishing 2nd overall in the Main and winning the Ultimate Auction with Jupinka,(along with 2 previous Auction titles), so the challenge will be mine next year, as I still haven't come close to your success. Thanks Jeff.

I apologize that this is a few days late in coming. Team Sack wanted to extend a congrats to the new Auction Champ, Alan Greenberg. We've always liked how Alan has worn his love for his teams in baseball and football on is sleeve - even if we can't stand the Mets and the Jets! lol However, over a very short time, he has proven to be quite a force in these events.

Way to go Alan - you will always be "The Champ" going forward. Great accomplishment, enjoy Sir.
