chicago peeps- need your opinion on wrigley

Where is the best place to sit in wrigley? looking for best bang for your buck. Bringing a group of 30 out for the cubs home opener weekend vs the phils in early April(yes i know it could be cold)

Been looking at outfield bleacher seats..but also some 400 level stuff in the infield looks like good view. we will probably do one game in the rooftop bleachers across the street and one game in stadium.

For pure bang-for-your-buck, the upper-deck infield box is a great seat. Unlike the modern stadiums, the upper deck is pretty low to the action and comparable to modern stadium club levels. Grandstand seats between first and third base are not too bad either and provide a nice value ticket.

Bleachers is the easy,out-of-town, cliched go-to-seat. But it does make for a nice "bucket" list, post-vaca conversational talking point and will make your Facebook friends envious that you're in the "bleachers," if thats what you're looking for. Have not sat there in a awhile, but if you get a kick out of chanting "right field sucks, etc" and enjoy drunk post-college aged kids and out-of-towers then the bleachers is for you. The rooftops, to me, are overrated if you actually want to watch the game and feel like you're at the game. They provide an all-you-can-eat and drink but can run around $100/per and you're far from the action. Do not recommend rooftops unless you're looking for a social outing with a game as a mere back drop and not concerned with the action.

So for pure value, with my main criteria being view vs. price, I would say:

1) Upper Deck Infield Box
2) infield Grandstand Box Seats
3) Upper Deck Outfield Box
4) Bleachers

Pre and Post Game Bars:

1) Vines on Clark (next to Cubby Bear): primarily because it never seems to be as crowded as everywhere else and it's a great venue with beer garden but you can actually get a table

I agree with almost everything in this post. I share season tickets with a couple of other guys. We had tickets in the Infield Upper Deck Box Row 7 behind home plate for 4 years. I loved those seats. Three years ago we moved to the Outfield Field Box seats down the left field line. Just a couple of rows behind the "Bartman" seats. We are much closer to the field as intended, but I haven't really been happy since.

*If* you can get 30 seats in the Infield UD Box level, do it. It's a very good value relative to the rest of the park.

If you are going to do a rooftop, save it for the second game, NOT Opening Day. Rooftop is expensive, but it is a fun experience if you have a group. I've been on 3 different rooftops, and as Chris said, it's as much or more about the party and your group as it is about the game, which is cool if you know that going in.

Afterwards, try Sluggers (Music, mixed-age crowd, ok food, Ronnie "Woo" will show up)
or
CaseyMorans (Loud music, slightly younger crowd, nice upstairs outside deck if it isn't cold, waitresses are eye-popping )

Went to Wrigley two weeks ago with a group of friends. We sat in the 400 Section in the infield boxes
in the first row. Found the view fantastic. Ticket cost was $34. We sat just beyond firstbase. Excellent view
point to watch and hear the game. Added bonus of having an excellent view of everything beyond the Outfield.
Get there early and make it a point to walk the entire stadium. Lots of shops/picture opportunities near the
friendly confines. Sports bars and places to kick back before first pitch. We had a great visit. While I preferred
PNC Park over the other stadiums we visited - my buddy felt Wrigley was clearly the best.

yeah I saw the virtual view on the site and those infield reserved boxes up there look great.

we also have a blackhawks game, a wrigley tour, a goose island brewery tour on our list along with the two games.

Ken....funny you say that....every year...we do one big trip..last year was boston..this year chicago..next year is either Pitt or san Diego...i may put that up for vote with the group.

Andy, my wife and I visited Wrigley for the first time August this year. Our seats were lower level behind home plate and underneath. Great view, but would not suggest that, unless it starts raining. We strolled the park before the game just for future reference. Upper infield are definitely the seats you want. The rooftop seats looked intriguing, but I'm sure, as others have stated, it's all about the party out there, not the game. The rooftops reminded me of a Super Bowl party when you have a lot of people in one large room and the game on TV. You don't pay as much attention to the game. But in this case, the game is in your backyard. It would be fun to do one time, especially "IF" it cost $100 per person for food and drinks.
