Anyone have a guy who they were completely avoiding who they were just dead wrong on...



My guy was Gomes- thought he would get exposed as a mediocre 250 type hitter this year. Looks like I could not have been more wrong.



You will see a lot of bragging about who people were right on here, you will see a lot of I drafted him and should not have.



A little different angle here-

Gomes never had a chance to make my team as I wasn't looking for OF's until the 12th round and beyond, but I must say the names Hermida and Gomes (for 2006) brought to mind the name Rowand (from 2005).



Sophmores just scare the be-jesus out of me. Perhaps that's the reason why I took Overbay over Shelton even though I had Shelton rated higher. Right now, that hurts.

Brady Clark - doh! Dismal BA and NO - count 'em - NO SB's to date. I thought he could at least contribute 15-20 SB's.

A world class athlete who will be in the Hall of Fame (probably on the first ballot), I avoided Curt Schilling because of his age and injury history. I generally write off the older pitchers, so I miss out on some good opportunities (Glavine/Maddux).

Vernon Wells. I read where he was in the sweet spot in the lineup, solid ahead solid behind but jeez I don't know how long id keep passing him by. I treated him like he was a dentist.

Interesting question. I suppose I'd say Edgar Renteria. I thought he'd rebound a little bit from his disappointing season in Boston, but I was skeptical enough to avoid him perhaps longer than I should have. Another candidate (sort of) is David Weathers. I needed a second closer (and still do for that matter), but I just could not see Weathers holding onto the closer role in Cincinnati. Frankly, I still don't expect Weathers to last as the closer, but the odds on his doing so look much better now than on draft day.

I was so convinced Arroyo would suck in Cincy that I dumped him a few weeks ago even after he had some good starts. Ah, well, I'm still kind of convinced he'll get there and my team is still 11th overall in ERA, so I can live with it. Plus, his leg kick just irritates me. I really don't need it on my team.



Rockwell, does it hurt too much to talk about X?

after the year jim pig thome put me through last year, i wouldn't have drafted him anywhere near where he actually went. to this point, it has been a kick to my jimmy

Alphonso Soriano was mine. Avoid like the plaque was my mantra for him. I see too many games at RFK to consider any power hitters. I figured he would get his SBs but that his average and power numbers would be down. So far that is not the case.

typical bjoak response, I was wrong on someone but only temporarily and allow me to plug that I am 11th overall in ERA even after the mistake.



Xavier Nady is I guess who you refer to- he was a terrible pick where you took him and one hot month does not change that.



Now the adults are getting back to a conversation-



Per a previous post- I am still not sold on Vernon Wells outperforming his draft slot in the end.

Well, 18th round: Wood, Olivo, Eckstein, J Encarnacion, Madson, Seo, Verlander, Barajas, Baker, Wakefield, Kennedy, Loaiza, Rios, Murton.



I would say Nady has outperformed all of these guys with the possible excption of Verlander and Nady is a good bet to outperform at least half of them in the end. I don't expect him to do what he's on pace to do, but he is and will continue to be a good 18th round player.



Yeah, I didn't mind plugging myself, but I think it takes a big man to admit the Arroyo mistake. Maybe this is another plug, but I got someone to shell $400 for him the next week and managed to take the focus off of my biggest ever FAAB pick, $100 Kenny Lofton. I can try to make myself feel better.

Ensberg. I never recovereed confidence in him after he burned me 2 years ago. now watching him just kills me as I was originally so high on him....

Yeah: Schilling. I was spot on, right?
