I can't believe nobody on these Message Boards is talking about the 2013 World Series. These first three games have been pretty interesting and they are filled with umpire decisions, managerial decisions and player decisions. Where do we start?
How about starting with that game-deciding call at third base. Was it right? Was it fair?
I place the blame on Farrell and then on Middlebrooks for not doing all he could to catch/block the ball. Hey Will, IT'S THE FREAKIN' WORLD SERIES DUDE!!! Throw yourself at that ball. But once he's on the ground, what was he supposed to do?
C'mon, let's see some good ol' fashioned baseball talk here. Who's going to win? Would you have pinch-hit for the pitcher in the top of the ninth in a tie game?? (aaaaah duh!!) C'mon, let's chatter it up for the next week before we begin the long drafting season. Thanks all and good luck to fans of both teams.

Didn't the baseball season end 4 weeks ago?
Re: 2013 World Series Controversies
Try lying prone on the ground, like Middlebrooks, and then attempt to get up, or out of the way. You won't do what Middlebrooks did (at least I didn't).

Re: 2013 World Series Controversies
The Red Sox lost the game because Salty threw the ball away.. pretty simple. The obstruction call was the right one. Although it may not have been intentional, it was a call that the umpire had to make. Sucks for a game to end that way... and all of the heat came off of the Red Sox for pitching to Jay with runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out with Kozma on deck. That was a strange call for them to NOT walk him, in that spot and set up a double play. That made no sense to me...

World Series...two teams at the top of their game...great pitching...good defense...clutch hitting...managerial genius.
Ok. Maybe next year.
This years winner with be the team that is lucky enough not to have the last screw-up. It is the Keystone Cops versus Our Gang. The last time I saw this level of play the ball was placed on a "T" and juice boxes were served after the game.

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

One's thing for sure, No two baseball games are ever the same!

I was talking to my dad, who was a big Drysdale fan, about all the stepping out of the box, fidgeting with gloves, helmets etc. I asked him what would Drysdale or Gibson have done about it. I think we all know that answer! MLB has got to do something about all this nonsense. Some of the Sawx time of games in the playoffs this year: 3:47; 3:49; 3:52; 3:54; 3:56; 4:19. (None were extra-innings) Unless you're a fan of one of the teams, these games are pretty much unwatchable now.

I can't believe teams don't bunt more. Ortiz is at first? I bunt ALL DAY. The errors were bound to come if you do that. I think I saw one maybe two bunts attempting for a hit in the 3 games in St. Louis. I said the same thing about the Tigers. Fielder at first? SLOW. Cabrera at third was hobbled. Yet, I really didn't see Boston ever bunt on them either (even though they won anyway). This is not hindsight 20/20.....to me it's common sense to bunt in those situations. Then again, I "hear" most MLB players don't know how to bunt. Go figure! They are professionals too!Greg Ambrosius wrote:I can't believe nobody on these Message Boards is talking about the 2013 World Series.
