Chris Volstad - R - Angels

Angels signed RHP Chris Volstad to a minor league contract.
MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez broke the news. Volstad will receive an invite to spring training. It looks like a nice landing spot for the towering 27-year-old right-hander, as Los Angeles is thin in the rotation and became more so when they declined to tender Jason Vargas a qualifying offer. Volstad was pounded for 10 runs over 8 1/3 innings at the big league level this year and logged a 4.58 ERA across 127 2/3 frames at Triple-A. Volstad, selected with the No. 16 pick by the Marlins in the 2005 draft, owns a career 4.94 ERA and a 442/248 K/BB ratio over 703 2/3 career MLB innings.

A 4.58 ERA at the minor league level?....A career 4.94 ERA?
No strike out history...
No winning history...
Never proven much...
Why would he be drafted at all?
