Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Dec 19, 2013 2:42 pm

With the debut NFBC Platinum League tentatively filled up, we turn our attention to the NFBC Diamond League on Sunday, March 30th at 10 am PT. I think you'll see a few more familiar names on here soon, but some have exchanged the Diamond for the Platinum. This opens the door for new members, which isn't always a bad thing.

This is a good Bump Bob as you beat me to it. There are some folks who are in the Platinum who are still inquiring about this league, so hopefully we can still fill this one up. After 4 great years of the Diamond, I would suspect that we can still fill this. The Platinum has changed things, but there's still hope for the Diamond. Again, we have a few guys from last year's two Diamonds who are still interested and the hope is that we'll still fill this one up by late March.

A little peer pressure wouldn't hurt, though. ;) You can see who is missing from past seasons.

Lowy is going to win some football playoff money. I expect him to be in here.

They all need peer pressure!!! Everyone is counting their football winnings right now to see if they have any extra spare cash for this one. Lowy is rolling in it and he definitely needs a tax writeoff. KOQ always needs a tax writeoff and he will make this much at the blackjack table, so give him a call. I haven't talked to Kevin Kirves yet.

There are possibilities here. It's still possible.

Definitely considering it. Greg, how's it looking with getting KOQ, Philby's, Chad, Kirves, etc. etc. back on board? And what happened to that powerhouse Dobies/Ante team I saw listed early on?

Time to start thinking about turning this into a 12 teamer. :D

I'd say we have another heavy football winner who is strongly considering this one along with you, which as Joe said would bring us to 12. Then it's a matter of filling it out with 3 more owners. We're not done talking with everyone yet and we are moving in the right direction now that you have some extra winnings to "invest." There's time yet to fill this one out.

Joe, I'd be cool with this being a 12-teamer if the payouts stay the same. :)

By the way, don't see your name on here yet Bud. ;)

Then perhaps there should be less time and effort spent pandering and begging to the same group of perennial NFBC high rollers, and more time and effort spent on marketing and promotion to pull in some new competitors and revenue streams outside of us. But then again, what the hell do I know...

Pandering and begging?? Geez, you make me sound like a used car salesman, Mike. But you are right again. Our goal every year is to retain all of our current customers and to bring in as many new customers as possible. And most of our new customers have come from our promotions on SiriusXM or from magazine ads or Google ads or word of mouth. I'm sure there's more we could and should do, but each year we grow the business and this year certainly is no different, as you can see from the huge increase in current DC Leagues. Now, finding new players right off the street to jump into the Diamond League isn't easy, but I'm sure they're out there.

It doesn't make me happy being right about this. I just would like to see new blood filling up leagues like the Diamond. The growth in DC's is nice, but dramatically increasing the higher stakes entries from the Main Event on up is where it's at. Perhaps when I get my own show on Sirius/Xm I can do something about this and you can just pay me back later. ;)

You mean like pandering to a single owner with his name on a $2,500 high roller Super League?

Mike, in fairness, you should get out there and find 5 more paying customers to fill the Diamond ... it was sold out and then some in December before your cockamamie Platinum idea poached half the field. Image

I know Mikey thinks that if we just advertised more we'd get more people to just dive into the Diamond and Platinum right away, but it doesn't work that way. It would be great to find this fountain of high-stakes players, but it's not that easy.

I know you want your own SiriusXM show Mike, but shoot for something bigger. There's going to be a new 24-hour Fantasy Sports Network coming to TV and they are going to create reality shows soon. We're talking with them and would love to work with them in many ways. But instead I'll pitch you for the lead role of "The Fantasy Housemen of New Jersey" and the NFBC will never be the same. Deal?
