WRE the Phil Helmuth of the NFBC?

Post by Worst Russian Ever » Sun Mar 21, 2004 5:32 pm

Ok some of you may know that we missed the first 10 rounds of the draft and were put on auto-draft by the league (League 12 in LV). Here is our official explaination adn we are sticking to it:

Phil Helmuth one of the best poker players out there never plays the first two rounds of a tournament. He just leaves his chips and shows up for the third round to intimidate the other players.

Our strategy was to show up 10 rounds late and only make picks 11-29. The first 10 picks of the NFBC are obvious and they almost pick themselves. The real work starts at pick 11.

Nevermind the fact that our first 10 picks are either out with injuries or coming off career seasons adn were therefore skipped by other teams. This will not stop the WRE! We believe that our strategy worked to perfection. Clearly all the other owners in our league were laughing and pointing at us out of fear!

Phil and Greg, you guys are good sports and if all of those first 10 picks stay healthy and duplicate those career years, your team will be one to reckon with. I wish there hadn't been a mixup with the starting time as you guys had just competed in the Auction League the night before, but at least you guys made it in time to do the dirty work in the late rounds.

Going forward, we will definitely put it in writing that any team that doesn't make it to the draft on time will be put on autodraft using the latest Fantasy Sports Magazine. That way everyone knows that there is no bias in the picks. We also may ask for cell phone numbers of every single entrant so that we can track down the participants in a case like this as we called the Rio hotel and you guys weren't staying there. Next time we'll even emphasize the three different starting times more.

Good luck guys.

Greg we had a great time. Everything that happened had nothing to do with you guys, it was my fault. Thanks for having your staff draft the first 10 picks for us. The above was written tounge in cheek and not meant to imply anything else. Anyway we still have a chance if things fall right...
