We're very excited about having two national contests this year with six-figure grand prizes. Our 11th annual NFBC Main Event now has a $125,000 grand prize -- the highest in our history -- as it remains the toughest competition our there with a 15-team league format. We have sold this contest out for 9 straight years and expect another sellout this year.

But we are also excited to be upping the ante with our 12-team format this year, the NFBC Primetime. This year we are offering a $100,000 grand prize there, giving owners a shot at $225,000 in grand prizes. But we're also making it more appealing to compete in both contests by adding a $75,000 cash bonus to anyone who can win both overall competitions. Lindy Hinkelman did this in 2009 with the Main Event and Online Championship and that bonus still remains there. But there are fewer owners in the Primetime, making this bonus even more realistic.

We'll keep a running tally of owners who have a shot at this $75,000 cash bonus and a shot at a total of $300,000+ in prizes. Pretty cool. Let's see if someone can do it.

Main Event & Draft Champion ! You need at least one bonus that doesnt involve the 12 teamer.

How about a $1000 bonus to the top ranked combo of all 4 of the events? Encourage people to try a format that they haven't done before. Or maybe the auction is a little tougher because of fewer people able to attend....You add a combo element to the other 3.

I agree, leave it at the main event, primetime, online and draft champion. Leagues that can be participated in person AND online.

I think the Draft Championship should be included in any additional bonus. Although it has the lowest grand prize of the different national contests, which is understandable given the low entry fee, it may be the hardest to win given the sheer number of participants.

Yeah, I'm leaning that way. It's going to be a tough one to double up on because there are so many people in the DC National Championship, but it's an affordable combination and can be done as Lindy proved in the OC and Main. That might be a winner, we'll see. Thanks all.

I think this is a great idea. However, I think the four events should be the Main, the Platinum, the Ultimate Auction, and the MLBC.

I think you should set it as a Primetime / Draft champions bonus for the simple reason that you want to encourage the growth in the Primetime. It appears to be off to a slow start. Get the Primetime going and then next season switch it to the Main Event.

I will be on the list for the Main Event / Primetime bonus at some point.

The Main Event already has two bonuses, so it makes sense to have a second bonus with the Primetime. Adding a Primetime/DC could be another way to reward 12-team/15-team champions who excelled in both contests. Plus for just $1500 and $150 you could win over $200,000. I'm looking into this one and it could stay around for a long time.

Yeah, we'll look at some things to spruce up interest in the NFBC Primetime. Hopefully the $100,000 grand prize helps, but we'll see what we can do to add to that. I know you're lovin' this one Joe. Now we need 200+ more owners just like you.

Greg, you need something for your Classic players. I don't do 12-teamers, don't leave your longest tenured customers out in the cold. Classic + DC is perfect.

I'm certainly not leaving our Main Event guys in the cold with two $75,000 cash bonuses.

The goal of the bonuses initially was to reward owners who could win in two different formats. A guy like Lindy dominated in the 15-team format and the 12-team format. That's why I like the Primetime/DC combo because it's the same format, rewarding owners who can dominate in both formats.

I hope that explains our reasoning.

Like this option too, I'd like to be in the game for at least 1 of 3 bonuses - DC or auction paired with Main works me.

With so many folks playing in these DC Leagues, it does seem that a bonus may encourage more drafters to dip their toes in Main Event waters.
I never think that big, but a lot of drafters do. That may be the impetus they need.

Could also be a way to grow the auction championship as well (if tied into a bonus). What about a million dollar bonus for hitting a "Grand Slam", first in each of Main, !2 Team, DC and Auction?

Signups for the live events are really starting to come in now that the football season is nearing an end. Don't be left out if you plan on joining us in either Las Vegas, New York City in Chicago because many events are selling out quickly. Today it's good to welcome NFBC Hall of Famer Lindy Hinkelman, who will be at the Bellagio Las Vegas on Second Weekend for the Main Event doubleheader, the Auction Championship and the Ultimate Auction. We'll keep Lindy busy once again this year!!

We're starting to get more folks playing both ends of the Main Event for a shot at the $225,000 in grand prizes and the $75,000 cash bonus. Lindy won the $75,0000 cash bonus in 2009 by winning the Main Event and the Online Championship when we had 600 OC teams. This bonus is a bit more realistic since the Primetime may have only 300 teams along with the 400+ Main Event teams. This is a realistic accomplishment and we wish everyone best of luck in this one.

Primetime - Online makes the most sense


Online will draw your largest field, because it has the solid price point of $350 and you are encouraging people
to take three teams for the $1000 entry fee. It is a 12 team format.

The Primetime is the logical match. It is also a 12 team format, so those that are preparing for the Online can
use the same logic in drafting a team. Growing the 12 team Primetime appears to be a goal, so reach out to your
biggest customer base ( the Online ) and offer some incentive to partake in both. Those "bonus" checks are great
ways to do this from the standpoint of the player.

No disrespect to either the Auction or the DC games, but they simply don't match up because they offer such a
different format. Any "bonus" should be tied to your SIGNATURE event(s) - which means that the Main Event or
the Primetime need to be included in any bonus you award. Make a player earn that bonus, use that bonus to promote
your most important product.

Now up to 40 owners doing both Main Events with a shot at $225,000 in overall prizes and the $75,000 cash bonus for winning both overall titles. Not a bad start. Thanks all.
