Cooperstown in January

Back in January 2003, a number of CDM players traveled to Cooperstown the week before the Super Bowl. This was the first time many of us had met in person. That first year, I believe we numbered around 10. A few of these die hard baseball fanatics moved to the NFBC when it originated that same year, including, Ken Magner, Dohn Terrell and Rich Verost.
On January 25th, we will be converging on Cooperstown for the 11th consecutive year. It is the love of the game and the friendships formed through the years. We travel from all distances for this annual trip. Myself and good friend, Bob Saxton, leave from Rochester at 6 am and arrive in Cooperstown at 9 am. Bob and I have made the trip every year. Former Wiseguy Baseball contributor and statistician extraordinaire, Tom Zownir, has made all but one of the trips.
This is an open invitation to anyone who would like to join us this year in Cooperstown on January 25th. We usually arrive in Cooperstown at 9 am for breakfast at the Doubleday restaurant and then tour the Hall until noon; we then head to Sal’s pizzeria for some lunch and baseball talk. In the past, Tom Zownir would create a great baseball quiz that we would all complete during our lunch. We then head back to the Hall for a few more hours before departing for home.
The great thing about this annual trek, we aren't fighting any crowds and we take our time and usually spend more time talking baseball at each exhibit. It is truly a great experience.
Please give some thought about joining us. I can fondly remember the first year we made the trip, the temperature in central New York was -27 degrees. Another year, the Wednesday before our trip, Cooperstown was hit with 45 inches of snow but we were not deterred. Traveling with a friend makes the trip (driving) go quickly (right Magner, Ken probably forgot what I am referencing)
