This weeks edition of throwing away another $100+ FAAB $'s on a guy the Mets would have given away for free a week ago. Valverde will definately get that job back, otherwise Lyon takes over. Nevertheless I will sit back and watch dozens of you flush another 100 FAAB bucks down the toilet , just like those who spent for the flavor of the week in K. Ray/ Dessens/ Cotts. It amazes me how much people are willing to bid on these week long closers ;) ;)

I am 50/50 this year. Picked Otsuka when Cordero was taken out of the job and that has paid off. Actually picked him up the week before the annoucement so it did not cost me an arm and a leg. Still a bit of a gamble because all the pros had Cordero back in the role in a couple of weeks. Otsuka has worked out real well (for me, he has 14.3 IP, 1.884 ERA, 0.767 WHIP, 1 W, 9 SV) in the five weeks I have had him in.

I picked up Wheeler when Lidge was going to be given a break. Spent big ($152) and have gotten zippo! My only hope is Wheeler turns it around a bit and gets traded. Not too much chance, but a boy has got to have dreams. Not sure how long I can waste a roster spot on him, though.

Everyone's past experiences and situations are different = some people need to take that chance every once and a while. As a Valverde owner, I decided to take may chances and not bid. As much as I would like to think that decision is right for me (based on my experinces and current situation), I do think there is just as much chance that Julio could retain the job and or return to it down the road. Valverde doesn't exactly have a great track record with injuries or saves history. People could certainly throw their money away on worse opportunties than Julio.

I HAVE Velverde in 2 of my sat leagues, so in those leagues i bid 166 in both of those leagues and didnt get him.The other leagues i bid low , just dont believe he will last long.I also grabbed wise in 2 leagues , he could be next with another blown save, and the kid in FLA i took a chance on Kensing, we will see.

Don't know if anyone else noticed Melvin was already ready to go back to Valverde in Sunday's Braves game.

I had a big bid on Julio until I was watching the game and Valverde was who was coming in in the 9th of the Braves game until it got out of hand in the top half of the inning. So altered the bid with about 30 seconds to go. Not usually that influenced game to game but didn't like that Melvin seemed so anxious to get back to Valverde so soon.

I was the guy who spent $70 on Turnbow the week before the suckers spent $500. I agree with Cindy.

I'm a Valverde owner and I have just about thrown in the towel. He'll stay on my roster but he will dangle by a thread. Besides Julio's blow ups are just around the corner.

Whatever Julio's problems were, he's got them cured now and should remain the best option for AZ's closing duties for the rest of the season.

Meanwhile....Valverde is completely off-kilter and basically toast.

Well done by those who bid on Jorge, especially those who "won" him, and "sorry about that, chief!!" to all you unfortunate Valverde owners :(

oops!! Didn't mean to be THIS right...

"Diamondbacks optioned RHP Jose Valverde to Triple-A Tucson."

Edgar Gonzalez gets to stick around in middle relief. Valverde is better off getting regular work in Triple-A after all of his recent struggles. The Diamondbacks will hope that he returns to form and contributes over the final two months.
