Tanaka to Yankees

Apparently the Cubs offer of $150M, plus 90 loses thrown in for free wasn't enough.

Those new posting rules sure did right by him. He got $99 million more than Darvish.

I've got him in only 1/6 DC leagues so far but if he's in the AL East I'm less likely to take him where he's been going til now.

Does his ADP start to fall slightly or will there be believers in most every league?

I'm sure the guy is good. 24-0 record is nothing to sneeze at.
But I'm not risking a high pick on a guy who has never played over here.
Some Japanese pitchers have been great, some have been good and some have been disappointing. Remember Hideki Irabu?
Give me Yu Darvish instead.

In our last 5 NFBC drafts, he's gone 112th, 82nd, 97th, 113th and 114th. In last week's FSTA draft he went 117th, for what that's worth. I think a lot of folks felt he had a good chance to go to Seattle or the Dodgers before this signing, but once the Yankees saved $25 million on A-Rod's contract this year they became players. Plus it looks like Hideki Matsui sold him on the pinstripes.

I do think pitching in the AL East lowers his value from where he was going previously, but I also wouldn't be surprised to see him climb to the 7th round more regularly now and possibly even into the 6th round a few times. He's with the Yankees, ready to be loved my many and loathed by others!!

It'll be interesting to see how Tanaka adjusts to the MLB and slightly larger ball.

As good as Darvish was in his first season, he didn't quite live up to the hype until year two. I'm guessing 2014 will be even better.
