There is a certain owner, who shall remain nameless, unless he voluntarily comes forward, who is, in my opinion the best auction player in the business and has proven it with overall auction championships and ultimate auction championships, who drafts only average and above average players, no stars and no scrubs. Everyone has their own approach and the auction brings out so many different strategies since you can basically buy whoever you want. I am also a star and scrub guy, but once again you are making statements that are misguided and incorrect.Deadheadz wrote:Stars and scrubs baby, stars and scrubs. You don't get an All-Star team in an auction.Gekko wrote:List their age and position! LOL
Listen, no matter how u spin it, you bought Ortiz in the third round. Regardless, your overspending killed more than half your team. Zero chance this team cashes. Sorry, but I don't sugarcoat
Tell me how many industry auction leagues have been won by owners who refuse to spend over $25 on any player and has a roster full of "average" players?
We're all waiting for the other shoe to drop as well. That shoe being the 27 man bench. We address our weaknesses there. Remember, no FAAB to bail you out mid season.
Do you think your team will cash?
Time will tell, Alan. I was hoping to face you in an auction but will be away for the $250 next week. Good luck and I'm looking forward to seeing your stars and scrubs listed in the Affordable Auctions thread.BK METS wrote: There is a certain owner, who shall remain nameless, unless he voluntarily comes forward, who is, in my opinion the best auction player in the business and has proven it with overall auction championships and ultimate auction championships, who drafts only average and above average players, no stars and no scrubs. Other than taking longer than expected - yes. There are some notes above that should help us shave an hour off the time.Lunatic wrote: did the Auction go well last night?
Not saying it doesn't happen or can't happen. More champions seem to use stars 'n scrubs so I took issue with Gekko saying half my team was crap. Yeah, the scrubs half. 3 of your pitchers I wouldn't even take in the 30th round of a DC. That is below scrub!Deadheadz wrote:Not saying it doesn't happen or can't happen. Maybe in your crowd (which is fine) - the perception, however, is a myopic generalization.Deadheadz wrote:

This is a much more disciplined approach and more sensible when you think about it. Some of those average or above average players are going to have career years so you grow your own stars. Much more unlikely for a scrub to suddenly have a great season. I think some people go in wanting to draft a lot of mid priced players, but auction fever winds up steering them into a stars and scubs roster.BK METS wrote:There is a certain owner, who shall remain nameless, unless he voluntarily comes forward, who is, in my opinion the best auction player in the business and has proven it with overall auction championships and ultimate auction championships, who drafts only average and above average players, no stars and no scrubs. YES.Deadheadz wrote:

Maybe I missed the rules of the auction. Were we bidding on what happened last season or what we expect might occur in the upcoming campaign?Deadheadz wrote:Here's another, but with pitchers:
Pitcher A 77IP 5QS 77K 27BBI 3.13ERA 1.32WHIP
Pitcher B 81IP 5QS 83K 30BBI 6.19ERA 1.66WHIP
Pitcher A $4 / Round 17
Pitcher B $5 / Round 20
Value?
Not for nothing, but in my boring manner, that's exactly the point I was trying to make. Except let's not pretend your comparison was not a shot at what you perceive to be a bad buy as much as it is a talking point, much like your initial comparison was to suggest one was a good pick and not simply a vehicle to innocuously discuss a couple of players.Deadheadz wrote:My mistake Todd.
Please, go over the "rules of the auction" for us. Please.
Do they include NOT discussing/debating players and what their potential performance could be in 2014 relative to 2013?
Half the fun of fantasy sports is the debate but you just like the chance to pile on, don't you?
Go ahead, take the fun out of jt.
Be boring.
I give up on you people.
Deadheadz wrote:Another set of blind 2013 resumes:
Pitcher A 201IP 19QS 198K 3.97ERA 1.31WHIP
Pitcher B 213IP 19QS 214K 4.33ERA 1.34WHIP
Pitcher C 218IP 22QS 217K 3.46ERA 1.31WHIP
Pitcher A $2 / ADP Rd 16
Pitcher B $9 / ADP Rd 12
Pitcher C $21 / ADP Rd 4
Neither of these pitchers are on my roster. I have no axe to grind or finger to point.
Simply want to discuss value vs hype.
