MLBAM Advances Analytics With New Technology

There was a major announcement yesterday by Major League Baseball when they introduced new technology at the Sloan Conference in Boston. I think this technology will change the way we look at baseball and will change the game as teams are able to really see the game in a different manner.

As most of you know, STATS LLC is leading the way with new analytics in the NBA under its SportVU brand and the NBA loved the technology so much that it bought it for all 30 teams and provide the data on NBA.com. It looks like Major League Baseball saw the new wave of available information coming and invested in its own technology and from all reports it is fantastic. I think it will change how teams position players defensively and how fans watch the game as this technology works its way into all game broadcasts. Pretty cool.
